摘要: Electrochemical storage cell, particularly of the alkali metal and sulfur type having at least one storage cell with insulation around the cell to minimize heat loss, and an interspace between the cell and the insulation. A heat exchanger in the form of a closed hollow body is partially filled with a vaporizable medium. The heat exchanger has two heat exchange zones in open communication. A first heat exchange zone is disposed in the interspace for preventing overheating of the cell by vaporization of the cell contained therein. The second heat exchange zone is disposed adjacent means for absorbing heat to condense vapors of medium which flow from the first heat exchange zone to the second heat exchange zone.

摘要: Method for the controlled heating of a liquid reservoir by a heat source of varying temperature wherein the heat from the heat source is fed through a heat carrier circuit to the reservoir into a region of a heating zone thereof which extends over part of the height of the reservoir and through which the heat carrier flows from the top to the bottom thereof, so that when heated stored liquid is withdrawn from the reservoir, colder liquid flows after it into the lower part of the reservoir, which comprises measuring and comparing the temperature of the heat carrier heated in the heat source and the temperature of the stored liquid in the region of the upper part of the heating zone, and initiating circulation of the heat carrier through the circuit only when the measured temperature of the heated heat carrier exceeds a temperature selected from the group of temperatures consisting of the measured temperature of the stored liquid and a pre-set limit temperature; and storage system for carrying out the foregoing method.

摘要: A method and apparatus for locating defective fuel rods of a liquid cooled reactor core wherein the rods have end caps and defective rods collect leakage liquid from the core in the end caps, includes heating the end caps of a plurality of rods to evaporate the leakage liquid, measuring the temperatures of the end caps of the plurality of rods, and simultaneously indicating the temperature differences between defective and non-defective rods. The rods are supported in a container filled with a liquid and the upper ends of the rods and end caps are enclosed within the container in a dry heated temperature. The apparatus includes means for heating the end caps, means for measuring the temperatures and means for simultaneously indicating the temperatures and temperature differences.

摘要: In high-temperature batteries which contain a series circuit of galvanic cells with a solid electrolyte, the solid electrolyte can be damaged without the damage being noticed when the battery is short circuited in the cold condition and a voltage reversal occurs at individual cells. According to the invention, a protection device is formed of elements that are connected in parallel with the cells. The elements have a high resistance at the operating temperature of the battery and a low resistance in the cold condition. The elements form a voltage divider in the case of a short circuit caused at external terminals of a cold battery. The voltage divider ensures the desired voltage division.
