A thermomagnetic printer of the in-plane magnetization system includes a magnetic recording layer made of Dy.sub.x Co.sub.(1-x) or Dy.sub.y Co.sub.(1-y) and a base layer made of Ti or Ta. Since the described arrangement enables the magnetic recording layer to be formed by the sputtering method or the electron beam evaporation method, and the like, the magnetic recording layer having a uniform thickness and properties in a large area can be formed without difficulties. In addition, by adopting the Ti layer or the Ta layer as the base layer, a reduction in a residual magnetization can be prevented even when the magnetic recording layer is made thicker, thereby increasing a magnetic attraction force.

A recording head for a magnetic printer utilizes a so-called magnetography, in which a magnetic latent image formed on a magnetic recording medium is developed and actualized by a magnetic toner and which image is transferred and fixed on a sheet of recording paper to provide a hard copy. The recording head for a magnetic printer includes a first thermal head member, second thermal head member juxtaposed with the first thermal head member with a space therebetween, and a magnetic head member arranged on the first and the second thermal head members. A magnetic gap of the magnetic head member extends immediately above the space between the first and the second thermal head members linearly in the same direction. By this structure, a recording head for a magnetic printer which has simple structure and allows formation of a magnetic latent image having clear boundary between opposite magnetic polarities on a magnetic recording medium, is provided.

An object is to provide a printing apparatus or the like that improves printing accuracy when a carriage moves back and forth for printing. A block 51 on a block surface plate is mounted on the block surface plate at a predetermined location. On the other hand, a substrate 54 on a print surface plate is mounted at a location corresponding to the location of the block 51, that is, a location where a picture transfer is desirably received from a blanket cylinder 13. In the present invention, the arrangement of sliders 52 and 40 for the block carriage 50 and a printing carriage 7 to reciprocate along two rails 30 in the block carriage 50 and that in the printing carriage 7 are the same. With such an arrangement, at the same location immediately below the blanket cylinder 13 on the same track 30, even when the straightness of the rail 30 is not sufficient, the block 51 and the glass substrate 54 take the same position at the location, and thus print misalignment can be prevented.

A magnetic recording medium in accordance with the present invention is constituted by a first magnetic film having a magnetic anisotropy in a first direction parallel to the film surface and a second magnetic film that is formed on the first magnetic film and that is made of an amorphous alloy film of a rare-earth metal and a transition metal having a magnetic anisotropy in a second direction that is parallel to the film surface, and different from the first direction. In the above-mentioned magnetic recording medium, the first and second magnetic films have magnetic anisotropies having directions parallel to their surfaces and different from each other. When a magnetic latent image is formed on the magnetic recording medium of this type, it is possible to reduce the height of serration in the serrate magnetization transition structure appearing in the border of magnetization inversion in the magnetic latent image. Consequently, it becomes possible to improve the resolution of the magnetic-latent-image recording, and also to provide magnetic latent images with high resolution and high magnetic attracting force to magnetic toner.

An ink-jet head includes an electrode formed to continue from an inner surface in an ink chamber to a back end surface of a diaphragm through an inclined surface of the diaphragm. The inclined surface forms an angle greater than 90° with the inner surface in the ink chamber and forms an angle greater than 90° with the back end surface of the diaphragm. The electrode thus has a sufficient thickness on the corner portion formed by the inner surface in the ink chamber and the back end surface of the diaphragm. Accordingly, even if any component touches or hits the corner portion formed by the inner surface and the back end surface, in an assembly process of the ink-jet head, the electrode is prevented from being cut off and thus from being broken. In this way, the electrode can surely be connected electrically to a driving circuit.
