摘要:
Coal can be extracted with high boiling aromatic oils produced by extracting the aromatic constituents of a heavy petroleum material, e.g. a bitumen residue, using a selective solvent, mixing the extract with a low-boiling aromatic solvent, adding water and separating the aromatic-containing phase and recovering said aromatic constituents. The resulting coal extract is particularly suitable for the production of electrode coke.

The present invention relates to transgenic plants that have increased nitrogen use efficiency, stress tolerance, and/or alleviating a limitation such that yield is increased, or a combination of these and that have been transformed using a novel vector construct including a synthetic N-acetyl glutamate kinase (NAGK) gene that modulates nitrogen use in plants. The invention also includes the overexpression and enzymatic characterization of an arginine-insensitive NAGK isolated from a bacterial strain that improves stress tolerance and nitrogen uptake, metabolism or both. In various embodiments, the vector construct includes one or more nucleic acid sequences including SEQ ID NO: 1. The invention also relates to isolated vectors for transforming plants and to antibodies used for detecting transformed plants. The invention also relates to methods of expressing in plants the nucleic acid molecules corresponding to the nucleic acid sequences that modulate nitrogen use in plants or are modulated by nitrogen conditions.

摘要:
An analytical test strip for the determination of an analyte (such as glucose) in a bodily fluid sample (e.g., a whole blood sample) includes a first and second capillary sample-receiving chambers and first and second stop junctions that are disposed between the first and second capillary sample-receiving chambers. The first stop junction defines a discontinuity boundary of the first capillary sample-receiving chamber and the second stop junction defines a discontinuity boundary of the second capillary sample-receiving chamber. In addition, the first stop junction and the second stop junction are disposed such that bodily fluid sample flow between the first capillary sample-receiving chamber and the second capillary sample-receiving chamber during use of the analytical test strip is prevented.

An electrochemical-based analytical test strip (“EBAT”) for the determination of an analyte in a bodily fluid sample includes an electrically insulating substrate layer with a distal end and a patterned conductor layer that is disposed over the electrically-insulating substrate layer and has a working electrode (“WE”) and a counter/reference electrode (“C/RE”). The EBAT also includes a patterned insulation layer with an electrode exposure window configured to expose a WE exposed portion and a C/RE exposed portion, an enzymatic reagent layer; and a patterned spacer layer. The patterned insulation layer and the patterned spacer layer define a sample receiving chamber with a sample-receiving opening (“SRO”) at the distal end of the electrically insulating substrate layer and that extends across the WE exposed portion and the C/RE exposed portion. Furthermore, the enzymatic reagent layer is disposed over the WE and C/RE exposed portions and extends no more than 400 μm toward the SRO.

A playing surface comprising a foam layer (1) having a top surface and a plurality of downwardly extending energy dissipating projections (9) and a fibrous carpet layer (2) overlying the top surface of the foam layer (1). The plurality of the energy dissipating projections (9) are arranged to dissipate energy of an impact through deformation to significantly affect a Critical Fall Height of the playing surface. The invention also comprises methods of manufacturing the playing surface.
