Abstract:
A method and a system for analyzing a data value of interest in a multidimensional database. The data value of interest is first identified in a structured report. The data source for the structured report is retrieved. A context for the data value of interest in the data source is collected, for example, by extracting a slicer from the structured report, by extracting members of master-detail pages, or by extracting a default measure from the structured report. An analysis specification based on the collected context is then built, and the data value of interest is analyzed using the analysis specification. The result from analyzing the data value of interest may be presented in an analysis view.
Abstract:
Method and system for determining a driving factor for a data value of interest in a multidimensional database, by collecting a context for the data value of interest in the multidimensional database. The data value of interest has dimensional levels with dimensional members outside the drill path of the data value of interest. The dimensional levels are enumerated in a list. A query using the dimensional members of the dimensional level is executed. A variance is calculated for the set of query results. A driving factor for the data value of interest is determined based on the variance. The driving factor is added to the context of the data value of interest.
Abstract:
A water treatment device having a tank containing an anode and a cathode. A motor is provided to impart rotational motion to the cathode. A scraping means is fixed to the interior of the tank and extend inward toward the tank so as to define a gap between the scraping means and the cathode. As mineral deposits accumulate on the cathode they are removed by the scraping means and the rotational motion of the cathode.
Abstract:
Method and server in a business intelligence analysis system for building a response to a client request. The response includes information regarding the response in an updated server context. The updated server context is round tripped to the client and included in a subsequent request. After being received from the client, the subsequent request is optimized based on the included updated server context.
Abstract:
A sensor assembly that replaces a single focal plane array detector with two focal plane array detectors orientated with respect to each other such that a power splitter divides an incoming light source equally between each detector. The two detectors are selected such that the locations of poorly-operating pixels in each detector do not overlay. The output signals of each detector are then electronically or analytically combined to yield 100 percent operability. Separate switchable wavelength filter wheels having one or more different wavelength filters may be positioned between the power splitter and each of the detectors. The power splitter may be replaced by a polarization splitter. One detector can be translated perpendicular to the incoming light source relative to the second detector to compensate for new poorly-operating pixels and/or to improve the spatial resolution.

Abstract:
In combination with a diagnostic CT scanner using radiant energy for imaging, an apparatus for therapeutically irradiating a target, comprising a mask that partially attenuates the radiant energy passing therethrough, but transmits through an aperture sufficient radiant energy for imaging. The mask, intermediate the radiant energy source and the target, passes an unattenuated portion of the radiant energy to irradiate the target. The cross-sectional shape and spatial position of the mask aperture can be selectively varied. A post-mask is aligned with the mask aperture and attenuates the radiant energy passing therethrough to an energy level essentially uniform with that of the radiant energy passing through the mask to permit continued imaging during therapeutic irradiation of the target. A method of using the invention in combination with a diagnostic CT scanner using radiant energy for imaging is also provided.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed for controlling an electronic display using a keyboard to allow designation of desired regions on the display or in the memory of the system. A method of designating desired regions on the display under control of a keyboard which has at least one designation key includes the steps of positioning a cursor at a first location in fixed relationship to the desired region, activating a first designation key, and supplying through the keyboard signals to indicate a second location in fixed relationship to the selected region to cause a portion of the selected region between the first location and the desired location to be designated. The apparatus for designating a region on a display includes a processing unit coupled to the display, a keyboard connected to the processing unit to control the display, and first and second designation keys coupled to the processing unit for causing the processing unit to search the display for a pattern entered into the keyboard while at least one of the first or second keys is activated.
Abstract:
A system for creating and modifying strings of symbols in a computer storage apparatus includes a two-part cursor for guiding the operator. One cursor part indicates the exact location where entered symbols will be inserted. A second cursor part highlights a selected substring which is the object of certain commands, such as the delete command. Internally, the system provides memory management techniques for inserting and deleting symbols in response to operator commands. The display, including the two-part cursor, is derived from the memory contents with the aid of pointers, tables, and state variables.
