    摘要: The present invention provides for methods for detecting Staphylococcus aureus in a sample. A preferred method includes the steps of: mixing a sample comprising a medium and microorganisms with a first solution in a vessel, the microorganisms suspected of comprising Staphylococcus aureus; separating the microorganisms from the medium and the bulk of the first solution and removing the medium and the bulk of the first solution from the vessel; adding a second solution to the vessel to resuspend the microorganisms; and detecting Staphylococcus aureus in the resulting suspension of step (c) by using an agglutination test.

    摘要: A method for identification and/or characterization of a microbial agent present in a sample includes a step of analytical test data (e.g., obtaining intrinsic fluorescence values over a range of emission wavelengths) from the microbial agent. The analytical test data is transformed thereby minimizing strain to strain variations within an organism group. With the aid of a programmed computer, a multi-level classification algorithm coded as a set of processing instructions operates on the transformed analytic test data. The multiple levels correspond to different levels in a taxonomic hierarchy for microbial agents suspected of being in the sample.
