    摘要: The present invention is directed to an expandable polymer link hybrid stent for implantation in a body lumen, such as a coronary artery along with a method of making the stent. The stent generally includes a series of metallic cylindrical rings longitudinally aligned on a common axis of the stent and interconnected by a series of polymeric links. The polymer links are formed by applying polymer layers between the rings and laser ablating the excess material. The polymeric material forming the polymeric links, provides longitudinal and flexural flexibility to the stent while maintaining sufficient column strength to space the cylindrical rings along the longitudinal axis. The metallic material forming the rings provides the necessary radial stiffness.

    摘要: A Y-shaped stent, or bifurcated stent, for stenting bifurcated vessels consists of a first generally cylindrical distal branch defining a first flow path for fluid flow, and a second generally cylindrical distal branch defining a second flow path for fluid flow. The first and second distal branches are interconnected by one or more bending elements at a carina junction, each of the bending elements being flexible such that the first and second distal branches are capable of pivoting about the bending elements at the carina junction, thus defining an angle of varying degree. A generally cylindrical proximal branch defines a third flow path for fluid flow. The proximal branch is attached to the first and second distal branches proximate the carina junction such that the first and second distal branches and the proximal branch are in communication with each other.

    摘要: A stent is formed from a series of radially aligned expandable rings. The rings are formed of a radio-transparent material that are linked by a radiopaque spine. A thin but very bright fluoroscopic image is thereby created, without compromising the strength of the stent. The small cross-section of the illuminated spine also serves to minimize interference with the image of the lesion when the stent is being positioned thereover. In the event galvanic corrosion causes the radiopaque spine to become detached from the radio-transparent ring elements, their expanded state precludes their shifting within the lumen. While the sandwiched position of the spine against the lumen wall prevents it from shifting as well.

The end rings are formed of a radiopaque material while the rings positioned between the end rings are formed of a radio-transparent material. Two very bright fluoroscopic images are created by the end rings, without any compromise in the strength of the stent, while the center of the stent remains transparent so as not to obscure the image of lesion area when the stent is being centered therein.

    摘要: An improved stent design and stent delivery catheter assembly for repairing a main vessel proximal to a side branch vessel and the opening to the side branch vessel forming a bifurcation. The stent is particularly useful in treating a bifurcation where plaque is present proximal to the side branch vessel but not distal to the side branch vessel. The present invention includes a trap door stent design, a stent delivery catheter assembly, and the method for delivering and implanting the stent in a bifurcated vessel. More particularly, the invention relates to a stent having rings aligned along a common longitudinal axis and connected by links. The stent has first rings that are implanted in the main vessel proximal to the bifurcation and one or more second rings forming a trap door section to appose the opening to the side branch vessel and the main vessel.
