摘要: TiB.sub.2 -graphite composite articles suitable for use as cathode components in a Hall aluminum reduction cell are made by impregnating a TiO.sub.2 -carbon composite with a boron compound and carbon black dispersed in water, or alternately by impregnating a boron or boron compound-carbon composite with a carbon black-TiO.sub.2 dispersion, and heating the article to a reaction temperature whereby TiB.sub.2 is formed and the amorphous carbon converted to graphite. The article may be impregnated with a carbonizable liquid, re-baked, and re-heated to a graphitizing temperature to increase its strength and density.

摘要: An apparatus for latching to any selected one of a family of electrical switching apparatuses having differently located centers of gravity includes a lifting bracket having a plurality of lifting attachment points whereby a crane or other hoisting device may be attached thereto. The lifting bracket with lifting attachment points enables the selected electrical switching apparatus to be lifted while being maintained generally level without excess tilting thereof. The apparatus also includes first and second latches movably connected to opposing ends of the apparatus for securely latching to the electrical switching apparatus being lifted. The lifting bracket of the apparatus also includes a locking flange for engaging the electrical switching apparatus during lifting and securely locking the first and second latches to the electrical switching apparatus.

摘要: Titanium diboride graphite composite articles are produced by mixing TiO.sub.2, petroleum coke and a binder to form a plastic dispersion. Articles are shaped by molding or extrusion and baked to carbonize the binder to form a baked carbon-TiO.sub.2 composite. The article is impregnated with a molten or dispersed boron compound, then heated to drive TiB.sub.2 forming reaction. The article is then further heated to a graphitizing temperature to form a graphite-TiB.sub.2 composite useful as a cathode component in a Hall aluminum reduction cell.

摘要: A lifting assembly for lifting an electrical switching apparatus for placement in an electrical cabinet includes a support frame moveable along first and second rail members mounted on the electrical cabinet. The lifting assembly also includes a winch having a spool, and a cable having a first end attached to the winch and a second end for lifting the electrical switching apparatus. The cable passes over a pivotable, rotatable cable support member mounted upon the support frame to provide even distribution of the cable on the spool. A plurality of wheels rotatable about either a horizontal axis or vertical axes are attached to the support frame for movement of the support frame along the rail members.
