摘要: Apparatuses and methods for coating and/or loading a medical device with a therapeutic agent prior to or during the placement of the medical device within the patient's body. In one variation, the medical device is coated and/or loaded with a therapeutic agent while the device is positioned in a delivery apparatus. In another variation, the delivery apparatus comprises a reservoir for retaining a therapeutic agent. The user may release the therapeutic agent from the reservoir prior to or during the placement of the device to coat and/or load the device with the therapeutic agent.

摘要: A method of making a multi-lumen catheter includes forming a catheter body including a first lumen and a second lumen, and forming a catheter tip having a first channel terminating distally in a first opening on a first side of the catheter tip, and a second channel terminating distally in a second opening on a second side of the catheter tip opposite of the first side. The first and second openings of the catheter tip extend through an outer wall of the catheter tip to a dividing section. The catheter tip is affixed to the catheter body such that the first channel is aligned with the first lumen and the second channel is aligned with the second lumen.

摘要: An implantable vessel filter having an integrated sensing capability for monitoring the condition of the vessel filter. In one variation, the vessel filter comprises a plurality of legs that would themselves perform as a sensor device for detecting distention, which would indicate the presence of a clot or thrombus therein. A passive electrical circuit may be implemented on the vessel filter to receive electromagnetic energy and transmit signals indicative of the condition of the implanted vessel filter. In another variation, a miniaturized sensor is adapted for measuring the strain and/or other physical parameters of the filter legs.

摘要: An improved bolus tip design for use in a multi-lumen catheter for the simultaneous injection and withdrawal of fluids to and from a patient. The improved bolus tip has a rounded elongate body consisting of an interfacing section and a nose section. A first channel opens to a first bolus cavity, which is formed into the bolus tip, and a second channel either extends through the nose section of the bolus tip, forming an outlet therefrom, or terminates at a second bolus cavity similar to the first bolus cavity. In the latter configuration, the second bolus cavity is located longitudinally between the fist bolus cavity and a tip of the nose section on a side directly opposite the first bolus cavity. The second bolus cavity is in fluid communication with the second channel.

摘要: A bolus tip for a multi-lumen catheter includes a first channel terminating distally in a first opening, and a second channel terminating distally in a second opening. The first opening may be positioned proximal the second opening along a longitudinal axis of the bolus tip and may be positioned on a side of the bolus tip opposite that of the second opening. The first and second openings may extend through an outer wall of the bolus tip to a dividing section. The bolus tip may also include a third channel sized for accommodating a guidewire.

摘要: Implantable variable flow infusion apparatus comprises a collapsible infusate chamber having an outlet conduit leading to the infusion site by way of series-connected fixed and variable fluid flow restrictors. The infusate in the chamber is maintained under substantially constant pressure by a nonelectric energy storage cell to establish flow from the chamber to the site. The variable restrictor is controlled by commands from a preprogrammed microprocessor and programmable memory powered by a small long-lived battery. The processor sets the variable restrictor to the proper setting to establish the correct infusate flow for the particular time of day. A pressure transducer connected across the fixed restrictor senses the pressure differential across the fixed restrictor which differential indicates actual infusate flow from the chamber. The processor samples the output from the transducer at infrequent sampling intervals and issues command signals to control the variable restrictor whenever the actual infusate flow rate differs from the preprogrammed rate so that the apparatus consumes a minimal amount of battery energy and can thus remain implanted in the body for a prolonged period. The processor can also be reprogrammed and monitored by telemetry.
