Abstract: A pipe coupling assembling for use with a pipe having an inner wall, an outer wall and an interstitial space between the walls, with the pipe terminating in a coupling end defining an axial direction. The assembly includes a ferrule attached to the outer wall. The ferrule has an outer annular ring and an interstitial channel aligned with the interstitial space in the pipe for presenting an interstitial chamber. An insert is attached to the inner wall. The insert also has an inner annular ring. An externally threaded transition fitting is removed for attachment to the ferrule. The fitting includes an interstitial channel aligned with the interstitial chamber, an outer seal channel for sealing engagement with the outer annular ring, and an inner seal channel for sealing engagement with the inner annular ring. Finally, a coupling is keyed to the ferrule including internal threads for engagement with the fitting to provide coupling engagement between both the ferrule and the insert with the fitting.

Abstract: A sump-riser performing as a collection sump, as a riser for the corresponding tank and as a means for secondary containment for the tank's submersible pump, manway, and fittings. The sump-riser comprises a generally cylindrical sump base with an upright annular lip extending upwardly from an upper support surface; an extension riser including a lower annular riser lip which fits over and round the lip of the sump base; a cover for the extension riser; and an access or observation lid. The riser extension is detachable or removable from the sump base and may be inverted and inserted into the sump base for compact shipping. Score lines may be provided on the riser extension to serve as cutting guides for proper sizing and the sump base may be multi-sided to provide flat walls for accurate hole drilling for pipe and conduit entry.

Abstract: An environmentally safe underground piping system which employes a inner flexible fluid supply piping system contained within an outer non-flexible containment piping system which interconnects a series of surface access chambers. Both the flexible supply and and non-flexible containment piping systems are interconnected by a series of directional fittings and couplings. The containment system may be installed, integrity tested, inspected and backfilled, prior to installation of the supply piping system which allows for a faster and more economical installation.

Abstract: A pipeline system is provided for a pumping system for fluid products, such as gasoline, diesel fuel and chemicals, and including a pump for pumping such products from a storage tank through the primary pipeline of the pipeline system to a product dispenser. The pipeline system includes a secondary containment system for the primary pipeline between the tank and dispenser which includes telescoping pipe sections of different diameters. The telescoping piping is installed around the primary pipeline and the pipe sections are, prior to final installation, movable between intermediate and final positions, for enabling completion, testing and inspection of the primary pipeline prior to final completion of the secondary containment system. One section of the telescoping piping is a flexible corrugated pipe which is able to bend around elbows. Compression seals and ring clamps are used to connect the components together.

Abstract: A sump riser apparatus for a pipeline system includes a hollow sump base including a upstanding annular portion disposed on an upward surface thereof in surrounding relation to an opening formed in that surface. A hollow detachable riser extension is mounted on the sump base and is of a size and shape, relative to the sump base, such that, when the riser extension is inverted, the riser extension can be received within the sump base for storage therein during transportation of the parts. The riser extension includes a cover and an annular step portion at the base thereof which fits over and around the upstanding annular portion of the sump base. The step portion is of a size and shape relative to the cover so as to enable receipt of the cover therein when the riser extension is inverted.

Abstract: A double wall pipeline is provided for a pumping system for fluid products, such as gasoline, diesel fuel and chemicals, and including a pump for pumping such products from a storage tank through the pipeline to a product dispenser. The double wall pipeline comprises a double wall, an inner primary pipe, an outer secondary pipe spaced from and surrounding the primary pipe, and integral spokes or spacers for supporting the secondary pipe in spaced relation to the primary pipe so as to create an annular space therebetween. The ends of some of the secondary pipe sections are stripped or cut back so as to terminate short of the corresponding end of the primary pipe and thereby permit testing and inspection of the primary pipe prior to completion of a secondary piping system in which the secondary pipe is incorporated. Unique primary and secondary fittings are provided as well as an air test clamp assembly for testing the integrity of the primary pipe and a collection sump fitting incorprated in the pipeline to permit the location of a leak to be visually determined.

Abstract: A hose breakaway fitting for a fuel hose and fuel dispenser that comprises of an inner ball-shaped valve section and an outer socket-shaped breakaway section. The valve section is connected to the dispenser's fuel outlet and the breakaway section is connected to one end of the fuel hose. Abstract: A fuel dispenser receiving fuel from a fuel source and dispenses the fuel to an output device while metering the quantity of fuel dispensed to the output device. The fuel dispenser includes a housing. A inlet port in the housing couples the housing to the fuel source. An outlet port in the housing couples the housing to the output device. A meter chamber in the housing has a chamber inlet, a chamber outlet, and a chamber opening. An inlet passage extends from the inlet port to the chamber inlet for conveying fuel received from the fuel source from the inlet port to the meter chamber. An outlet passage extends from the meter chamber outlet to the outlet port for conveying fuel from the meter chamber to the outlet port. A nutating disk meter disposed within the meter chamber of the housing is for measuring the quantity of fuel flowing through the fuel dispenser. A chamber cover covers the opening and seals the nutating disk meter in the meter chamber. The nutating disk meter includes a disk having a magnetic portion that rotates at a rate corresponding to the rate of fuel flow through the meter. A sensor disposed outside and adjacent to the meter chamber and magnetically coupled to the disk detects its rotation and generates a corresponding signal.

Abstract: In a pipeline system having a plurality of pipe segments joining a fluid supply tank to a fluid dispenser, the invention includes a pipe coupling assembly for use on at least one terminal end of a fluid transfer pipe, where the transfer pipe has an inner tubular member for transferring fluid and an outer tubular member and an interstitial space therebetween. The coupling assembly comprises a transition coupling for attachment to the pipe segment to provide a first path for the fluid in the inner tubular member and a second path for the interstitial space. The coupling assembly further comprises a transition fitting for attachment to the transition coupling to provide separate paths for the transfer fluid and the interstitial space, where the interstitial space provides a means for performing leak detection or fitting integrity tests during application of either a vacuum condition or pressurized gas input via such selective access.
