摘要: The apparatus includes an endless belt of nickel having a surface profile comprising an array of cavities such that any liquid layer deposited on the surface is keyed into the surface and constrained against movement relative to the surface. A liquid comprising solute and solvent is deposited as a layer on the belt from a nozzle. A first heater evaporates the solvent but leaves the solute. A second heater evaporates the solute which is then collected and fed to an analyzing device. The profile of the belt is particularly conducive to constraining a liquid on the belt and ensuring uniform evaporation upon heating.

摘要: Cavity enhanced spectroscopy efficiently couples a broadband optical frequency comb to a high finesse optical cavity inside which a sample test gas is placed. The output of the optical cavity is a multiplicity of channels of data resulting from the differential absorption of light at various of the comb frequencies. The device can operate in a ringdown mode or a non-ringdown enhanced absorption spectroscopy mode. Careful measurement and control of cavity dispersion and comb spacing are part of the coupling process. Several dispersive detection methods adapted to detecting the multiplicity of channels are provided.

摘要: The present invention enhances directory assistance automation by searching traditional directory assistance databases with independent listing and locality queries. Initially, a caller's speech responses from a directory assistance inquiry are individually converted to independent listing and locality search queries. The listing and locality queries are determined by processing the caller's speech responses using a defined speech recognition grammar. The listing and locality queries are used to search a directory assistance database. Once the listing results are returned from the directory assistance database, the records in the listing results are analyzed to select a number for the caller's directory assistance request.
