The substrate portion has a ceiling portion and side wall portions add also a boss for mounting a lock-plate. The side wall portions have a thickness generally larger than that of the ceiling portion and moreover have hollow portions and also have a hinge portion. This is accomplished by a process for the production of an optical fiber bundle for heat resistance and vacuum resistance, which comprises making up optical fiber filaments each having a core part and a clad part into a bundle, closely fusion-bonding the end of the optical fiber bundle with a bonding glass and then subjecting the bonding glass to a crystallization treatment to increase the heat resistance.

For molding, the pre-formed elastic sheet material is oriented so as to be in contact with a setting face of an open mold. Further, a molten resin material is injected into a cavity defined within the closed mold via a gate so that the cavity is filled with the resin material. The gate has a substantially thin, rectangular shape in cross-section, and forms a rib integral with and projecting rearwardly from the molded resin substrate body. The integrally formed rib is molded from resin material left remaining in the gate after the molten resin material is injected into the cavity.

A method for molding an in-mold coating product including a substrate and a coating formed on a surface of the substrate. A first mold including a fixed mold piece is closed to form a substrate cavity therein. The substrate cavity is charged with a resin to form the substrate with a seal projection formed near the parting line of the first mold. Then, a second mold, which uses the fixed mold piece of the first mold, is closed with the substrate arranged on the fixed mold piece to form a coating cavity therein. The second mold deforms the seal projection so that when a coating material is charged into the coating cavity, the coating material does not leak out toward the parting line of the second mold.
