A method for forming a stretch film includes: introducing a primary stream to a primary passage of a die at a die inlet opening, the primary passage having a length extending from the die inlet opening to a die outlet opening; supplying a secondary stream to the primary passage at a secondary passage opening; combining the primary stream and the secondary stream to create a combined stream; passing the combined stream through said die outlet opening; and passing the combined stream from the die outlet opening to a casting unit, thereby forming a film web.

    摘要: Methods and means for producing a stretch film comprising a slip skin layer are provided. In one example embodiment, a stretch film having a slip skin layer is provided having a variable and scalable coefficient of friction. A stretch film comprising a cling layer and a slip skin layer is also provided, in which the cling layer further with includes a polyethylene-based elastomer blended into a low density polyethylene, and the slip skin layer includes an ultra-high molecular weight polysiloxane polymer. Consequently, the slip skin layer has a very low coefficient of friction while the cling layer retains a relatively high co-efficient of friction.

    摘要: Methods for producing a stretch film are provided, including disposing one or more extruders in fluid communication with a stock of virgin resin; heating the virgin resin to a molten state; delivering the molten virgin resin to a die; and extruding the molten virgin resin through the die onto a casting roll, thereby creating a cast stretch film. Methods for delivering the molten virgin resin onto a casting roll of varying sizes and set temperatures; and of moving a resulting film onto a secondary chill roll of varying sizes and set temperatures, are also provided. Finally, methods for moving the film from either the casting roll or the secondary chill roll onto a slitting assembly, dividing the film using one more interior or exterior slits, and then capturing and gathering the trim waste but not reintroducing the trim waste back into the production process are also disclosed.

A method of folding edges includes: separating a first idler roll and a second idler roll by a first distance; positioning a plurality of folding guides between the first idler roll and the second idler roll; separating adjacent sections of film having a majority layer comprising a Ziegler Natta catalyzed linear low density polyethylene copolymer resin having molecules that inherently lack long chain branching, wherein a majority of said molecules are oriented in a substantially longitudinal direction due to an induced strain, and inducing two folds with each folding guide, thereby causing an edge of each section of film to turn under 180° and cling to a bottom surface of the section of film; and moving the adjacent sections of film from the folding guides to the second idler roll.
