Abstract:
A wheel includes a central hub and a flexible rim. A drive band configuration including a plurality of flexible bands extends as spokes from the central hub to the rim. The hub and band configuration cause the rim to flex toward and away from the hub as the wheel moves.
Abstract:
Apparatus and techniques relating to data interface power consumption control are disclosed. Components of a data transfer module may be selectively moved between their normal operating states and reduced power states at times when the data transfer module is not to be used for transferring data. Decisions as to particular components that are to be moved to their reduced power states may be based on respective timing characteristics of the components and/or respective power consumption characteristics of the components, for example. In some embodiments, an action may be performed to reduce a powering up time of the data transfer module when normal operation of the data transfer module is to resume. In the case of a multiple-connection interface having respective data transfer modules for each connection, the interface may be partially shut down by moving a subset of the data transfer modules into reduced power states.
Abstract:
A high speed multi-lane serial interface and method for constructing frames for such an interface are provided. Frames are constructed for transmission on a multi-lane serial interface. For each of a plurality of transmit channels, packets are fragmented into fragments. Meta-frames are generated having a size defined by a constant meta-frame length×number of lanes, each frame having a meta-frame separator and a payload. Per-transmit channel flow control information is received. Each payload has a plurality of bursts, each burst comprising a burst control word and an associated data burst, the burst control word identifying one of said transmit channels to be transmitted on the associated data burst, each data burst comprising one of the fragments for the transmit channel identified in the associated burst control word. The channels to transmit in a given meta-frame are selected as a function of the received flow control information.

Abstract:
Provided is a modified configuration that permits operation of instrumentation onboard platforms that may experience severe environmental conditions. The instrumentation permits autonomous acquisition of performance data. Acquired data may be recorded for later playback as well as provided to the platform's operator in real time in multiple formats, such as warning lights, digital displays, video, or audio. An application would be for sensor systems used on an automobile to record performance data, providing a warning when routine maintenance is due or a catastrophic failure is imminent. A specific application uses a flight-certified missile launcher pod on an F/A-18 aircraft, as incorporated in the aircraft's wingtip and modified to hold instrumentation conforming, at least in part, to the launcher pod's internal dimensions. This arrangement enables autonomous onboard display and recording of data from the captive carry testing of an AIM-9X missile and follow-on designs that may be based on the AIM-9X.
Abstract:
A door made up of a grid frame, two sheets of metallic foil and two face skins. The grid frame is made up of laterally and longitudinally extending members. A sheet of foil is supported on each side of the grid frame under the face skins. The door has provision for hinges and a lock.

Abstract:
A display system includes a light modulator divided into an array of individually controllable pixels and an input-driven illumination device. The illumination device is adapted to receive a variable input and is configured to direct light of variable intensity onto the modulator, depending on the input. The display system further includes a calibrating arrangement for establishing the input to the illumination device to produce a desired intensity level of light. The calibrating arrangement includes a light sensing mechanism, which senses the light from the illumination device while the illumination device is driven by an initial input. The calibration arrangement is configured to determine a comparison between the sensed light and a value representative of the desired-intensity level. The calibration arrangement further includes a control arrangement responsive to the comparison for varying the input so as to provide light of the desired intensity level.
Abstract:
A system and method for detecting problematic call interactions between callers and call center agents of a communications system. By monitoring call associated information, speech, and voice characteristics of the call interaction, the system and method determine whether calls are being handled properly. If a call is determined to be problematic, a call center supervisor is automatically notified of the problematic call. Further, the problematic call interaction is recorded and can later be retrieved.
