    摘要: The invention is a distributed implantable neuro-stimulation system, comprising an implant controller including control logic to transmit two time-varying power signals, varying between two levels and out of phase with the other, and a command signal modulated onto at least one of the power signals. One or more electrode cells, each having control logic to extract charge from the power signals and recover commands from the command signal. A two-wire bus interconnecting the implant controller and all the electrode cells, to carry one of the time varying signals in each of the two wires, and to carry the command signal.

    摘要: A monitor for a therapeutic device such as a cochlear implant monitors the leakage RF signals between the external and the internal components. In one embodiment, absence of RF signals is interpreted by the monitor as being indicative of either an out-of-range condition or a flat battery condition and a sound and/or visual signal is generated to indicate this condition to an attendant. In a more complex embodiment, special indication signals either are superimposed on the standard signals and used to uniquely identify the cochlear implant or to provide an indication of certain preselected features of the external component. The monitor is especially useful for infant cochlear implants.

    摘要: A GPS receiver includes baseband resources for simultaneous determination of carrier frequency shift and code chip offset. Reduction in the power consumption of a receiver is achieved by managing the sampling rate of an analog-to-digital converter, the intermediate frequency of the RF front end, and the front end bandwidth so these are appropriate to the current function of the receiver. In a GPS receiver during signal tracking, the IF, front end bandwidth, and ADC sampling rate are set as high as possible; during signal acquisition, the IF and front end bandwidth are set to relatively low values, and the ADC sample rate is set to a high value; and during ephemeris download, the IF, front end bandwidth, and the ADC sample rate are set to relatively low values. When a low battery condition is detected, the IF, front end bandwidth, and the ADC sample rate are set to relatively low values regardless of whether the GPS receiver is in the signal acquisition mode, signal tracking mode, or ephemeris download mode.
