    摘要: Power consumption is managed in a subscriber station of a communication system. The subscriber station is engaged in a sleep mode, including reducing a frequency of a system clock of the subscriber station. When the subscriber station receives, while in the sleep mode, a message having downlink transmission parameters while, the frequency of the system clock of the subscriber station is increased to process the message. After processing the message, the frequency of the system clock is reduced.

    摘要: A system and method are presented for protecting multiplexed elements sharing a single electrical line. The system includes a plurality of elements connected to the electrical line, a switch connecting, to the electrical line, a first element in the plurality of elements, and a detection sub-system. The detection sub-system evaluates a signal on the electrical line. A detection sub-system control output supplies control signals in response to comparing a signal voltage level to a compatibility threshold value. The switch operates in response to accepting the control signals. The compatibility threshold value can be selected to equal the maximum voltage compatible with the first element. In some cases, the switch is a transistor.

    摘要: A first printed wiring board (PWB, 102) has a first set of parallel printed wires (108) on one face and a second set of parallel printed wires (214) on the other face. The second set is generally orthogonal to the first set. The first set terminates in a first adaptor (110), which adapts to an interface (1034) having many parallel channels. The second set terminates in a second adaptor (112), which adapts to a second PWB (1036). Development of the second PWB is enhanced when any input or output on the second PWB can be connected to any channel of the interface. Thus, a hole is drilled through the first PWB at the intersection of the appropriate printed wires of the first and second sets, and is plated. The plated hole (416) may be drilled out (rendering it non-conductive) and effectively replated many times. Alternatively, the (inexpensive) first PWB may be replaced.

    摘要: A system and a method are provided for multiplexing digital and analog signals to and from a device using a single electrical connector. The system includes a connector with at least four lines and analog and digital interfaces attached to the connector. The interfaces share: first and second analog-to-digital converters (ADCs); and first, second, and third switches. The analog interface includes an audio sub-system with a third ADC and first, second, and third digital-to-analog converters (DACs). The digital interface includes a digital sub-system. The switches have first terminals attached to the connector, second terminals connected to the third ADC and the DACs. The switches open in response to a digital mode signal, enabling a digital signal path from the digital interface terminals to the connector. The switches close in response to an analog mode signal, enabling an analog signal path from the connector to the audio sub-system.

Wait states are adjusted as necessary to accommodate filtering of the digital signal that is transmitted over microprocessor bus 22.

    摘要: A system and method are presented for identifying, in an electrical device having an audio interface port, a headset type. The system includes a microcontroller logic unit with an output, connected to a test network, to supply a test voltage. The test network also is connected to the audio interface port. The test network can include combinations of resistors, capacitors, and switches. A voltage determination sub-system has an input connected to the interface port line and an output to supply a determination signal responsive to voltage at the audio interface port. The logic unit has an input connected to the determination sub-system output and compares determination signal values with a predetermined threshold value to identify a headset type connected to the audio interface port.

    摘要: In a computer-to-plate system, printing plates are loaded from their shipping container onto a drum, where they are exposed by a laser. As the plates are packed with paper sheets between them, a paper removal system followed by a capacitance probe is used. The capacitance probe detects any paper remaining on the front or back of the plate. The plate is gravity loaded onto the drum and is resting on two contact points identical in position to the contact points of plate punching equipment. The orthogonal edge of the plate is detected electronically, in order to fully register the image to the plate. Magnetic clamps hold the plate to the imaging drum.
