Abstract:
A passive vehicular heatstroke prevention system monitors carbon dioxide (CO2) and infrared (IR) energy levels to determine whether a child is present inside a closed vehicle, and, if so, monitors the temperature in the vehicle and, if the temperature in the vehicle exceeds at least one preset critical value, automatically lowers the temperature in the vehicle and contacts the driver/caregiver and/or emergency personnel. The system detects the presence of a child in the closed vehicle by detecting a critical level of carbon dioxide in the air within the vehicle, while monitoring the interior vehicle temperature and takes corrective action to prevent the temperature from exceeding a preset value, such as by activating the vehicle's air conditioning unit and lowering the vehicle's windows, as well as contacting the driver/caregiver and/or emergency personnel.
Abstract:
A support in the form of a high directional having a configurable number of telescoping legs is disclosed. The support provides a head and a plurality of telescoping legs, the head having a plurality of head units and each head unit having at least one associated leg depending therefrom. Each head unit being adapted to be coupled to at least two other head units.
Abstract:
A brake assembly for use on vehicles includes a rotor having connection tabs and a hub having bobbins, integrally formed or separate, with the rotor connection tabs being positioned between the hub bobbins and clamped together with a top plate. An ABS tone ring is fastened to the hub and is circumscribed by the rotor. Alternatively, an ABS tone ring can be formed as part of the top plate. A spring clip can be used with the top plate to accommodate thermal expansion of the rotor and eliminate rotor rattling. Torque is transferred from the brake rotor to the hub in a common plane to prevent twisting in the fastener connection.
Abstract:
A turbine exhaust nozzle includes an inner shell disposed coaxially inside an outer shell to define a flow duct terminating in an outlet at a trailing edge of the outer shell. The inner shell is non-axisymmetric and varies in axial slope angle circumferentially around the duct.
Abstract:
A personal electronic device (PED) is provided with a system for playing, mixing, and delivering media and activity based messages to a user based upon the activity of the user. In some embodiments, the user can define user preferences, which determine when and how and when the media is mixed and activity based messages are mixed and output. In some embodiments, the message selection is based upon monitored and detected activity, the location, or speed of the user. In some embodiments, the message selection is based upon a detection of a local environmental event.
Abstract:
Systems, apparatus, and methods are disclosed for accurately identifying a mobile thing (MT), an activity associated with the MT, or both, using sensor data from one or more sensors, such as an accelerometer, gyroscope, etc., associated with a wireless communication device (WCD) transported by the MT, so as to enable or initiate a further one or more intelligent MT-identity-based and/or activity-based actions.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides, among other things, various systems and methods for battery remediation in connection with electric powered mobile things (EPMTs). A representative method, among others, is implemented in a computer system (EPMT-CS) associated with the EPMT and can be summarized by the following steps: monitoring electric power capacity (EPC) associated with locomotion of the EPMT; monitoring travel data relating to the EPMT; engaging in a communication session with a remote host computer system (H-CS) based upon the EPC monitoring; requesting assistance of a battery remediation station (BRS) during the communication session; communicating location information relating to the EPMT during the communication session so that the BRS can visit and remediate (recharge, repair, or replace) a battery associated with the EPMT. Upon receiving this information, the H-CS can contact and dispatch the BRS to visit the EPMT. A representative system, among others, comprises an EPMT-CS that is programmed or designed to perform the foregoing steps.
Abstract:
A cleaner head for a vacuum cleaning appliance includes a main body, a front agitator and a rear agitator, each agitator being rotatable relative to the main body, a mechanism for rotating the front agitator and the rear agitator, and a surface agitating edge located between the front agitator and the rear agitator.
Abstract:
A method performed in a network element for reacting to communication performance measurements that fall outside of communication performance thresholds. The network element generates a communication performance measurement between a first endpoint and a second endpoint, wherein each endpoint is a point of communication in the network and at least the first endpoint resides on the network element. The network element retrieves a communication performance threshold and determines whether the communication performance measurement falls outside of the communication performance threshold. The network element generates a trigger associated with the communication performance measurement and the communication performance threshold when it is determined that the communication performance measurement falls outside of the communication performance threshold. The network element retrieves a registered handler associated with the generated trigger to indicate that the registered handler requires execution in response to the generated trigger and executes the registered handler.
