    摘要: A moving slab laser includes a slab carriage driven to-and-fro along a precise rectilinear reciprocal path by a liner motor under the control of a computer. The reciprocal motion of the slab is precisely guided by cross roller ways or ball bushing bearings to minimize non-rectilinear motion-dependent output beam steering effects. In one embodiment, the lasant slab is separated into a pair of axially spaced geometrically identical portions which are reciprocated in opposite directions to cancel motion direction dependent beam steering effects.

Each of the laser transmitters transmits a beam which is substantially smaller than the return beam received by the laser receiver.     摘要: There is provided a rotary disk laser module including disk comprised of at least one lasing material. The lasing material may be excited by a laser excitation source, such as an optical pump beam directed onto the disk. The laser gain region contains excited lasing material and extends between the first and second surfaces of the disk. A laser generator is formed when the gain region is brought into optical communication with a laser generator. A laser generator may be a laser oscillator or a laser amplifier. The disk may move in order to enable various lasing functionality to the laser module. For instance, the disk may rotate, translate, or tilt to rotate the gain region, provide various quantum effects, or to enable heat transfer with a heat sink. A high-power laser generator may be formed by using a number of disks containing lasing material, exciting the lasing material using at least one laser excitation source, and bringing them into optical communication with a laser generator.

    摘要: An optical demultiplexer, having an angular dispersion generator followed by an angular amplifier. The angular dispersion generator disperses an incident optical signal into a plurality of channels. While traveling through the angular dispersion amplifier, the channels with incident angles larger than a critical angle are internally totally reflected, and the channels with incident angles smaller than the critical angle are partly reflected, and partly transmitting into an ambient medium. The transmitting part of the channels are thus further dispersed and demultiplexed.

    摘要: A heat sink for slab lasers has two heat conductive members. Each heat conductive member has a generally planar surface and is configured such that a solid state laser medium is disposable therebetween while contacting the planar surfaces thereof. There is at least one window formed in at least one of the heat conductive members for facilitating pumping of the solid state laser medium. The two heat conductive members cause heat to be removed from the solid state laser medium in a manner which mitigates thermal focusing and depolarization of laser radiation stimulated within the solid state laser medium.

    摘要: A high power solid state laser has a solid state laser medium with two ends and a longitudinal axis, at least one laser diode configured to end pump the laser medium, a resonator in optical alignment with the laser medium, a transparent and thermally conductive end cap disposed at each end of the laser medium and in thermal communication therewith, and at least one heat sink in thermal communication with the end caps. The end caps and the heat sink(s) cooperate to effect heat flow from the laser medium such that a substantial component of the heat flow is along the longitudinal axis of the laser medium, thus mitigating undesirable transverse temperature gradients within the laser medium and enhancing average power output therefrom.
