The SLD includes: an InP substrate having a LD region and a SOA region for amplifying light emitted from the LD region; an optical waveguide having a BRS (buried ridge strip) structure having an active layer of resonant strip pattern formed on the InP substrate and extending from the SOA region to the LD region; a first electrode formed on the active layer in the SOA region, a second electrode formed on the active layer in the LD region and electrically isolated from the first electrode; and a current blocking region interposed between the first electrode and the second electrode in order to electrically isolate the first electrode and the second electrode from each other.

摘要： A waveguide PIN photodiode is provided. The waveguide PIN photodiode includes a lower light guide layer, a light absorption layer, an upper light guide layer, and a cladding layer. The lower light guide is formed on a substrate, and the light absorption layer is formed on the lower light guide layer. The upper light guide layer is formed on the light absorption layer, and the cladding layer is formed on the upper light guide layer. The lower light guide layer, the light absorption layer, and the upper light guide layer constitute a core layer, which is an optical waveguide, and graded index distribution is symmetrically formed in a depth direction, centering around the light absorption layer having a highest refractive index.

摘要： An image forming apparatus for determining a state of conveying a printing medium and a method thereof are disclosed. The image forming apparatus includes a convey belt rotating in a caterpillar manner for conveying a printing medium to a photoconductor. A charge roller charges a printing medium that enters the convey belt. A convey roller faces the charge roller and forms a convey nib with the charge roller. A transfer unit transfers a developer image formed on the photoconductor to the printing medium. A resistance detector constantly detects resistance of the convey roller. A controller determines whether the resistance is varied within a reference time.

摘要： A housing assembly of an OPC unit to protect an OPC drum in an image forming apparatus includes a main housing enclosing at least a half of a large-diameter OPC drum and provided with a main-opening selectively contacting a plurality of developing units and a plurality of sub-openings, a first housing and a second housing each mounted on a side of the main housing, a handle hingedly connected to the main housing, and a plurality of brackets mounted on opposite sides of the main housing. As a result, the housing assembly of the OPC unit allows easy development, electrification, exposure, image transfer and treatment of a waste toner, and reliability of the image developing process increases due to the fixation of the developing units. Also, since the exposure of the OPC drum is minimized, an area of the OPC drum to be contaminated can be reduced.

摘要： A developer concentration detection apparatus is provided, which includes a base member in which a developer accommodation space is formed, an electrode plate member installed in the base member so that a toner included in a developer in the developer accommodation space is electrically charged, a hollow transparent conductive tube which is rotatably supported in the state where at least part thereof is submerged in the developer in the developer accommodation space and the surface thereof can be charged, a light emitting element installed in the transparent conductive tube, and a light receiving element installed spaced from the surface of the transparent conductive tube, for detecting light generated from the light emitting element. The developer concentration detection apparatus can detect measurement of the developer concentration, thereby providing the result of assuring an optimal printing quality. Also, reliability and accuracy of the measurement is guaranteed since the developer concentration is measured by directly detecting the amount of the particles of the toner included in the developer.
