An image forming apparatus that can prevent a transfer belt from being polluted by used developer on a belt cleaning member is disclosed. The apparatus includes at least one photoconductor on which a developer image is formed, a transfer belt, a belt cleaning member, and a first pollution control unit. The transfer belt transfers the developer image formed on the photoconductor to an image receiving medium, and the transfer belt is rotatably supported by a driving roller and a driven roller. The belt cleaning member cleans used developer remaining on the transfer belt after the developer image is transferred. The belt cleaning member is able to move into contact with the transfer belt or be separated from the transfer belt. The first pollution control unit is disposed on the driven roller, and prevents the used developer on the belt cleaning member from moving to the transfer belt due to electrical forces when the transfer belt passes by the vicinity of the belt cleaning member separated from the transfer belt. The first pollution control unit prevents the transfer belt from being polluted by the used developer on the belt cleaning member without requiring the belt cleaning member to be spaced apart from the transfer belt as much as required by conventional image forming apparatuses.

Either one of the first and second fixing rollers is disposed to bring a surface thereof into contact with the non-image surface of the paper before the paper passes through the fixing nip, and the fixing roller brought into contact with the paper has a heating element mounted therein.

The invention herein relates to an accordion laser disc protective folder structure, more specifically a protective folder with two lateral expanding, continuous according folding sheets, replacing the conventional loose-leaf folder or the fixed laser disc protective folder; there are accordion folding sheets on the two sides of the protective folder and several protective pockets mounted according to the interval distances of the folds for storing the laser disc; the design of the accordion folds make each of the protective pockets display discs with a proper interval distance to allow the user, when trying to remove a laser disc, only to open the cover of the protective folder to fast glance over the whole contents of all the stored laser discs and easily search for the required laser disc, therefore solving the disadvantage of the conventional laser disc protective folder which required the user to turn each page one by one.

An ellipsometer for evaluating a sample includes a light generator that generates a beam of light having a known polarization for interacting with the sample. A polarimeter of the ellipsometer includes a compensator, an analyzer and a detector. The compensator is formed of an optically uniaxial material. The compensator has a planar front face, and a planar rear face that is substantially parallel to the front face. The compensator is configured such that one ordinary axis of the crystal, but not the second ordinary axis of the crystal, lies in the plane of the front face. The compensator is positioned in the path of the light beam such that the light beam is normally incident to the front face of the compensator. As such, the ordinary ray is not displaced as it passes through the compensator. The ellipsometer further includes means for rotating the compensator about an axis that is perpendicular to both the front face and to the rear face. The analyzer interacts with the light beam after the light beam interacts with the sample and with the compensator. The detector measures the intensity of the light after the interaction with the analyzer as a function of an angle of the rotation of the compensator about the axis. The measurements can be used to determine the change in polarization state that occurs as light is reflected from the sample.

The present invention relates to a novel crystalline form of a Compound 3,4′,5-trihydroxy-stilbene-3-β-D-glucoside (polydatin) and a method of preparation and use thereof, and to a pharmaceutical composition containing crystalline form I of 3,4′,5-trihydroxy-stilbene-3-β-D-glucoside. Crystalline form I of 3,4′,5-trihydroxy-stilbene-3-β-D-glucoside of the present invention has a stable crystalline morphology, a definite melting point and a good chemical stability. Such a novel form of 3,4′,5-trihydroxy-stilbene-3-β-D-glucoside possesses the properties required for the preparation of solid formulations and is easily tabletable and readily formable when formulated, which allows for substantial decrease in raw materials costs, more facile operations in production and easier control over quality in industrial drug production, and moreover, better convenience in storage.
