Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an extrusion apparatus comprising: a) a planetary roller extruder; b) a melt pump arranged downstream of the extruder; c) optionally, a fluid feeding equipment; d) a static cooling mixer equipment arranged downstream of the melt pump; e) a foaming equipment arranged downstream of the static cooling mixer equipment. The present disclosure also relates to a process of manufacturing a foamed polymeric composition and uses thereof.

Also described are films comprising the composition as well as articles, such as a tape or sheet, comprising the film described herein and a layer of pressure sensitive adhesive disposed on the film.

Abstract: Compositions and films are described comprising a polylactic acid (PLA) polymer. The composition further comprises a copolymer comprising a long chain alkyl moiety. The copolymer further comprises a second moiety that is miscible in the polylactic acid polymer. In favored embodiments, the composition comprising the polylactic acid polymer and copolymer may be used to form a release layer of an adhesive article such as a pressure sensitive adhesive tape. The films may be a monolithic film or a film layer of a multilayer film. The release layer may be disposed upon a substrate layer. The substrate layer may also comprise polylactic acid polymer. The substrate layer may be coextruded with the release layer. In some favored embodiments, the film or film layer is oriented.
