Abstract: The tape incudes a water vapor-permeable air and water barrier article and a pressure sensitive adhesive layer. The air and water barrier article includes a fibrous layer having first and second major surfaces and a polymeric layer on a first major surface of the fibrous layer that penetrates into the fibrous layer but leaves at least some fibers exposed on the second major surface. The pressure sensitive adhesive layer is on the polymeric layer of the air and water barrier article. The tape can retain greater than 50 percent by weight of mortar applied according to the Vertical Mortar Receptivity Evaluation. The article includes a substrate, the tape, and a composite layer comprising at least one of gypsum, lime, or cement. The composite layer is at least one of dried or cured on the second major surface of the fibrous layer. Methods of making the article are also described.

Abstract: Adhesive tape rolls having detackified side faces are presented, and methods of their manufacture. In one embodiment, the method comprises applying one or more inks to a side face of an adhesive tape roll with an ink jet printing system. In some embodiments, inks are applied in an image-wise manner so as to create a pattern, text or graphics, which may include: barcodes. QR codes, brand information, manufacturing information, or remaining roll quantity indicia. In one aspect, the present methods enable elimination of packaging materials by two concurrent advantages: a) detackifying the side faces, which eliminates the need for packaging materials to prevent blocking of stacked rolls and accumulation of debris on side faces; and b) producing an adhesive tape roll bearing text, graphics, or other information on the side face of the roll, which eliminates the need for packaging materials to bear such information.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are improved thermoplastic polyurethane compositions, articles, and related methods. These compositions include aliphatic thermoplastic polyurethanes having a hard segment content ranging from 57 percent to 80 percent by weight. The hard coat compositions have a Shore D hardness of at least 70 and can display an Elongation at Break test result at 25 degrees Celsius of at least 150 percent. These materials, when hardened, can serve decorative and/or protective functions while displaying both a high degree of elongation at moderate temperatures and high hardness.

Abstract: Described herein is an article having a microsphere layer comprising a monolayer of microspheres, the monolayer of microspheres comprising a first area substantially free of microspheres and a second area comprising a plurality of randomly-distributed microspheres, wherein the monolayer of microspheres comprises a predetermined pattern, the predetermined pattern comprises at least one of (i) a plurality of the first areas, (ii) a plurality of the second areas, and (iii) combinations thereof; and (b) a bead bonding layer disposed on the microsphere layer, wherein the plurality of microspheres are partially embedded in a first major surface of the bead bonding layer, wherein the article has a retroreflectivity (Ra) of less than 5.0 candelas/lux/square meter. Also disclosed herein are transfer carriers and methods of making the articles and transfer carriers.
