    摘要: Aromatic polyimide powder wherein a solid portion consisting of a highly heat resistant crystalline aromatic polyimide is covered with a coating layer of an amorphous polyimide, and a process for producing polyimide powder molded bodies by compression molding of the powder. The polyimide powder has satisfactory secondary molding workability, and molding thereof gives molded bodies which retain heat resistance and dimensional stability while having high mechanical strength and elongation.

    摘要: A diaryl carbonate is produced by decarbonylating a diaryl oxalate, which can be prepared by transesterification of a dialkyl oxalate with a hydroxyaryl compound, in the presence of a catalyst, while removing the resultant carbon monoxide as a by-product, and then optionally refined by an evaporation and/or distillation, and then the resultant diaryl carbonate is condensation-polymerized with a polyhydroxyl compound, while recovering a resultant hydroxyaryl compound from the reaction system, to produce a polycarbonate.

    摘要: A 3,4,3',4'-substituted biphenyl compound represented by the general formula (II): ##STR1## wherein, one of R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 is a -CH.sub.3 group and the one other is a --COOR.sup.5 group, --COOH group, or --COCl group, and one of R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 is a -CH.sub.3 group and the other one is a --COOR.sup.5 group, --COOH group, or --COCl group, is produced by the steps of oxidatively coupling an o-toluic acid alkyl ester in the presence of a catalyst containing a mixture of palladium salts with 1,10-phenanthroline or .alpha.,.alpha.'-bipyridine, a chelating product of a palladium salt with 1,10-phenanthroline, or a chelating products of a palladium salt with .alpha.,.alpha.'-bipyridine, in an atmosphere containing molecular oxygen, to selectively produce a 3,4,3,',4'-substituted dimethyl biphenyl dicarboxylic acid dialkyl esters having a biphenyl ring structure; optionally converting this dialkyl ester compound to a corresponding dimethyl biphenyl dicarboxylic acid, and then optionally further converting this to a corresponding dimethyl biphenyl dicarboxylic acid dichloride.

    摘要: A biphenyltetracarboxylic ester, particularly, 3,3',4,4'-biphenyltetracarboxylic tetraester, is prepared in an increased yield by first oxidative coupling, at 140.degree. C. to 260.degree. C., an o-phthalic diester with a molecular oxygen-containing gas, for example, air, in the presence of a catalyst comprising predetermined amounts of a Pd salt, a basic bidentate ligand compound, and a Cu salt to convert a portion of the o-phthalic diester to the corresponding biphenyltetracarboxylic ester and by additionally oxidative coupling in one or more steps, in each step, the remaining portion of o-phthalic diester with a molecular oxygen-containing gas at 140.degree. C. to 260.degree. C. while controlling the composition of the catalyst to an extent such that the entire molar amount of the Pd salt is 0.0001 to 0.01 time that of the o-phthalic diester, the entire molar amount of the ligand compound is 0.5 to 4 times that of the Pd salt and the entire molar amount of the Cu salt is 0.01 to 5 times that of the Pd salt.
