    摘要： Aqueous dispersions of urethane polymers are disclosed that provide water-based coating compositions with good adhesion following humidity exposure. The polyurethane is made from a first and a second polyisocyanate, the first polyisocyanate having at least one open carbon chain greater than six carbon atoms in length between two isocyanate groups, preferably at least eight carbon atoms in length. The dispersion is particularly useful as a binder resin in coating compositions having pigments that normally have a detrimental effect on adhesion.

    摘要： A water reducible polyurethane resin for use in coating compositions is provided with humidity resistance at relatively low cost by employing a urethane prepolymer which is the reaction product of (i) a polyisocyanate, (ii) a polyhydroxy compound which is the reaction product of an organic acid and an epoxy compound, at least one of which includes a hydrocarbon group of at least six carbon atoms, and (iii) a monomer having an anionic group and functionality reactive with isocyanate. Preferred embodiments employ C.sub.36 dimer diacid and the propylene oxide ester of neodecanoic acid to make the polyhydroxy compound.

    摘要： The invention provides compounds containing the ring-opening products of ethylenically unsaturated cyclic carbonates for use in preparing hydrogel polymers, as well as methods for their preparation. A preferred method of the invention includes the reaction of nucleophilic compounds containing Si, F, N or O atoms, or combinations thereof, or latent moieties in the form of unsaturated or hydroxylated functional groups, with ethylenically unsaturated glycerol carbonate derivatives. The compounds and hydrogel polymers are useful for the preparation of contact lenses.
