Abstract: A renal therapy apparatus including at least two feedback controls is disclosed. Each control includes an estimated volume calculator to calculate an estimated volume based on a set flow, a comparator to compare the estimated volume with a measured volume, a volume deviation determining means to determine a volume deviation based on the comparison, a correction calculator to calculate a correction based on the volume deviation, a flow control generator to generate a flow control signal based on the calculated correction amount and the set flow, and a feedback control output to output the controlled flow control signal to a pump associated with each feedback control. A flow correction distributor includes an input to receive correction signals from the correction calculator, a limited correction signal calculator to calculate a limited correction signal for the input correction required signals, and an output to output each calculated limited correction signal to the feedback control from which its underlying correction required signal has been received.

Abstract: A blood treatment device includes an extracorporeal blood circuit, a dialyzer and a dialysis fluid circuit. The extracorporeal blood circuit has an arterial portion, a venous portion, an air detector configured to monitor whether air is present in the venous portion, at least one blood pump configured to pump blood through the extracorporeal blood circuit, a venous hose clamp configured to selectively clamp or release the venous portion, a user interface, and a control unit. When the control unit receives information from the air detector that there is air in the venous portion, the control unit is configured to stop the blood pump, close the venous hose clamp, raise an alarm, and display on the user interface instructions for removing air in the venous portion and displaying status reports about the removal of air, and carry out automatic removal of air from the venous portion on a user-initiated basis.

Abstract: A blood treatment device includes an extracorporeal blood circuit, dialyzer and dialysis fluid circuit. The blood circuit and dialysis fluid circuit are separated from each other by a membrane in the dialyzer. A weighing device measures and monitors the weight of a bag containing a fluid. A fluid pump pumps fluid out of and into the bag. A control unit interrupts fluid supply by stopping the pump when a weight variation of the bag occurs and temporarily maintains the interruption at least until the malfunction disappears, and automatically restarts the fluid supply if the bag or the weight of the bag stabilizes within a predetermined time and the weight variation does not exceed a predetermined value. The control unit generates an alarm if the bag or weight of the bag does not stabilize within a predetermined time and/or if the weight variation exceeds a predetermined value.

Abstract: An extracorporeal alarm suppression method is arranged to be carried out in a continuous renal replacement therapy and/or chronic hemodialysis device and includes the steps of monitoring vascular access pressure, including arterial and/or venous pressure, of a patient using a vascular access pressure monitoring means; detecting an access pressure alarm situation if the arterial or venous pressure is out of predetermined alarm limits; when a first access pressure alarm situation is detected, setting the device to an alarm suppression state reducing the blood flow and therapy flows using an alarm suppression state setting means; detecting that a predetermined alarm suppression state condition is met using a predetermined alarm suppression state condition detecting means, the predetermined alarm suppression state condition including at least a predetermined waiting time having passed or a parameter threshold having been reached after the first access pressure alarm situation has been detected; and when a further access pressure alarm situation is detected after the predetermined alarm suppression state condition has been met, setting the device to a safety state using a safety state setting means, the safety state being a state in which the blood pump is stopped.
