摘要: A control unit of an apparatus for extracorporeal blood treatment is configured to perform a control procedure. The control procedure includes calculating parameter control values to be set during a time interval after the instant in which the control is made, on the basis of actual values and of prescription values of variation in blood volume, ultrafiltration flow rate, and concentration of sodium. The control procedure further includes imposing the parameter control values during the time interval consecutive to the instant in which the control is made such that the actual values of the variation in blood volume track the prescription values of the variation in blood volume over a predetermined treatment time. The control unit is further configured to perform a procedure for automatically estimating/calculating a target plasma conductivity and/or a target concentration of sodium in plasma to be reached at the end of the extracorporeal blood treatment.

摘要: The disclosed subject matter relates to extracorporeal blood processing or other processing of fluids. Volumetric fluid balance, a required element of many such processes, may be achieved with multiple pumps or other proportioning or balancing devices which are to some extent independent of each other. This need may arise in treatments that involve multiple fluids. Safe and secure mechanisms to ensure fluid balance in such systems are described.

摘要: A system and method for collecting plasma includes drawing whole blood from a donor, combining anticoagulant with the whole blood from the donor, separating the whole blood into a plasma product and a second blood component and sending the plasma product to a collection container. A controller determines a total blood volume for a donor based on donor weight, height and gender. The system comprises a touchscreen for receiving a confirming user input and a scanning device configured to scan a bar code associated with a donor. The system and method operate a plurality of draw and return phases.

摘要: A system and method for collecting plasma includes drawing whole blood from a donor, combining anticoagulant with the whole blood from the donor, separating the whole blood into a plasma product and a second blood component and sending the plasma product to a collection container. A controller receives parameters over a network from a remote computer, receives a user input to confirm the a parameter and/or procedure, determines a target volume for plasma product and/or raw plasma based on the parameters and, in response to confirming the donor, controls the system to collect the plasma using draw and return phases.

摘要: An apparatus for extracorporeal blood treatment for chronic therapy comprises a nutritional bag (33) containing a nutritional solution, a weighing device (36) configured to determine a weight (W) of the nutritional bag (33), a nutritional line (34) for infusing the nutritional solution into either a blood return line (7) or into the patient vascular system. An ultrafiltration device (30) is configured to achieve a fluid removal from the patient through a semi- permeable membrane (5) of a filtration unit (2) and a sensor (31, 32) is configured to determine an ultrafiltration rate (UFR). A control unit (100) connected to the ultrafiltration device (30), to the weighing device (33) and to the sensor (31, 32) is programmed for receiving a patient prescription and for controlling the ultrafiltration device (30) to achieve the patient prescription based on the weight (W) and on ultrafiltration rate (UFR).

摘要: Compounds, systems, kits, methods, and/or apparatuses may be operative to reduce amyloid beta (Aβ) peptide in a patient, including a central nervous system (CNS) of the patient and/or a periphery (non-CNS portion) of the patient. In some embodiments, a displacer fluid comprising a Aβ displacer may be introduced to the patient to bind to a blood protein, such as albumin, that binds Aβ (for instance, Aβ peptide or non-plaque Aβ) in the patient periphery. Binding of the displacer to the blood protein may facilitate more free Aβ peptide (for instance, Aβ monomers) in the periphery for clearance via natural processes, such as through the liver or kidneys, and/or artificial processes, such as dialysis. Increased removal of the free Aβ peptide in the periphery may ultimately lead to less Aβ peptide in the CNS, which may decrease Aβ plaque formation in Alzheimer's Disease (AD) patients. Other embodiments are described.

摘要: Described are embodiments that include methods and devices for separating components from multi-component fluids. Embodiments may involve use of separation vessels and movement of components into and out of separation vessels through ports. Embodiments may involve the separation of plasma from whole blood. Also described are embodiments that include methods and devices for positioning portions, e.g., loops, of disposables in medical devices. Embodiments may involve use of surfaces for automatically guiding loops to position them into a predetermined position.

摘要: A blood purification system is provided that is capable of effectively utilizing accumulated histories stored during blood purification treatment and that helps take a quick and appropriate action in response to a particular incident that occurs unsteadily. In a blood purification system, a history stored in a storage device includes particular incidents having occurred unsteadily in blood purification treatment. The blood purification system includes an extracting device capable of searching the histories accumulated in the storage device and extracting a desired one of the particular incidents, a calculating device capable of calculating a time when the particular incident extracted by the extracting device occurs a predetermined or more number of times as a frequent-occurrence time slot, and a display control device capable of displaying the frequent-occurrence time slot calculated by the calculating device on a display during a current session of blood purification treatment.
