摘要: This invention relates to a method in a cellular communications network having a plurality of base stations, and to a base station for said cellular communications network, wherein each base station is configured to use a frequency band of one of a hierarchy of spectrum levels, the method comprising: a first base station using a frequency band of a first spectrum level of the hierarchy of spectrum levels; determining an interference level in the network; determining whether the interference level indicates that the first base station's performance is sub-optimal; and, if so, the first base station reconfiguring to use a frequency band of a second spectrum level of the hierarchy of spectrum levels, the second spectrum level having a different number of frequency bands than the first spectrum level.

摘要: This disclosure provides a method in a cellular telecommunications network having a first base station and a second base station, wherein the first base station is moving relative to a reference object and serves a User Equipment (UE) the method including identifying the UE's relative speed with respect to the reference object; preparing a message to transfer the UE to the second base station, the message including one or more information elements to indicate the UE's relative speed to the reference object, wherein a mobility state for the UE may be estimated from the one or more information elements indicating the UE's relative speed with respect to the reference object; and initiating a transfer of the UE from the first base station to the second base station by sending the message to the second base station, wherein the message includes the one or more information elements to indicate the UE's relative speed with respect to the reference object.

摘要: There is provided a method, and a network node for implementing the method, in a cellular telecommunications network. The cellular telecommunications network includes a first and second base station, the first base station having a first interface for communicating with a first cellular core networking node and a second interface for wirelessly communicating with the second base station, the second base station being mobile and having a first interface for wirelessly communicating with the first base station and a second interface for communicating with a User Equipment (UE), wherein the UE's user traffic is transmitted between the first cellular core networking node and the UE via the first and second base stations.

摘要: A base station for a mobile communications network is disclosed, in which the base station includes a plurality of transmitters, in which each transmitter is configured to provide transmit radio signals to a plurality of mobile terminals; and a plurality of receivers, in which each receiver is configured to detect receive radio signals from the plurality of mobile terminals. The base station also includes a processor configured to interrogate each of the plurality of the mobile terminals for an indication of signal quality of a signal received by the mobile terminal; and to assign each of the plurality of the mobile terminals to one of two groups based on the received indications of signal quality. The mobile terminals assigned to the first group are those that indicate relatively low signal quality and the mobile terminals assigned to the second group are those that indicate relatively high signal quality. The plurality of transmitters are configured to communicate with at least some of the mobile terminals in the first group over unicast and to communicate with the mobile terminals in the second group over multicast.

摘要: A method of operating a first base station in a cellular telecommunications network, the cellular telecommunications network further including a second base station, in order to autonomously create a detection scenario for a Physical Cell Identifier (PCI) conflict between the first and second base station, includes the first base station transmitting at a first maximum transmit power about a first coverage area for a first period of time; the first base station transmitting at a second maximum transmit power about a second coverage area for a second period of time, the second coverage area being larger than the first coverage area and the second period of time being shorter than the first period of time; and then the first base station returning to the first maximum transmit power.

摘要: In a wireless network formed of short range femtocells, each femtocell provides wireless connectivity to user equipment devices and the user equipment can move around the topographical range covered by the network by handing over to a neighboring femtocell. Due to the limited range of a femtocell, there will be coverage gaps. If the device moves to a location not covered by a femtocell, it will try to connect to a macrocell of a different wide area cellular network until it is within range of another femtocell network. To minimize handovers from the femtocell network to the macrocell network, each femtocell is arranged to analyze historic log data to detect coverage gaps experienced by the user equipment as it moves along a user equipment route and try to close the gaps by increasing the coverage range of femtocells on either side of the coverage gap to close the gap.

摘要: This disclosure provides a device and method of aligning a transmission frame in a Time Division Duplexing network, wherein the transmission frame includes a sequence of units separated by transition points, wherein each unit includes one or more resource slots in a transmission direction, the method comprising: allocating a transmit power level to a plurality of resource slots in a unit, wherein a transmit power for a first resource slot of the plurality of resource slots is greater than the transmit power for a second resource slot of the plurality of resource slots; measuring the transmit power of a TDD transmission received from an external node to determine a peak transmit power of the received TDD transmission; and substantially aligning the first resource slot to coincide with the peak transmit power of the received TDD transmission.

摘要: This disclosure provides a method of allocating a resource in a network of small cells, and a device for implementing the method, the method comprising: a first small cell detecting that its resource demand exceeds its resource allocation; the first small cell selecting a new resource that is being used by a second small cell; and the first small cell allocating the new resource to either the first or second small cell, wherein the probability the new resource is allocated to the first small cell is based on the first small cell's resource demand.
