    摘要: Radiation curable compounds are disclosed comprising an amide moiety, a urethane moiety and an ethylenically unsaturated functional group, typically an acrylate functional group. The compounds comprise the reaction products of an amide-containing compound having at least one hydroxy functional group, a polyisocyanate and a polyfunctional compound having a hydroxy functional group reactive with an isocyanato group of the polyisocyanate, which polyfunctional compound provides an ethylenic functional group in the reaction product. Coating compositions containing these radiation curable reaction products cure at relatively high rates to form films having high abrasion resistance and improved tensile strength and elongation properties as compared to conventional urethane acrylate coating compositions.

    摘要: The oxygen inhibition of the photopolymerization of acrylic resins is reduced by employing a photocatalyst system containing an aromatic ketone and/or aromatic aldehyde photosensitizer having a triplet energy in the range of from about 54 kilocalories per mole to about 72 kilocalories per mole and which promotes polymerization through bimolecular photochemical reactions of the energy donor type and an aromatic ketone photoinitiator which generates a radical pair by way of unimolecular homolysis resulting from photoexcitation. An exemplary photocatalyst system is benzophenone and isobutyl benzoin ether.

    摘要: Novel compositions comprising photoactive polymers comprising a dinitrobenzyl group in conjunction with a photoacid generator are disclosed. In one embodiment, the photoacid generator is a diazide and/or a sulfonyl aceto carbonyl compound. The photoacid generators are typically used in amounts of 10 weight percent or less. The compositions find particular application in storage stable, pH stable, and water stable positive photoresist compositions. Such compositions demonstrate reduced process time as compared with similar compositions lacking the photoacid generator. Methods for using these compositions are also disclosed.

    摘要: An electrodepositable primer composition having improved delamination resistance with regard to automotive topcoats is disclosed. The composition is particularly useful in conjunction with topcoats which transmit ultraviolet radiation. The composition includes an ionic resin and a hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS) which is preferably a hindered aminoether light stabilizer. A preferred hindered aminoether light stabilizer is bis-(1-octyloxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidinyl)sebacate. The invention also includes a process for coating a substrate by applying the above-described primer composition and subsequently applying a topcoat. The process can alternatively include applying a standard primer composition to a substrate and subsequently applying a HALS compound to the electrodeposited substrate.
