    Abstract: A needleless connector includes a housing having a central longitudinal axis, a body portion, and a base portion. The body portion includes an inner surface forming an internal cavity, and a first port forming a first fluid passage to the housing cavity. The base portion includes a top end section and a bottom end section. The top end section has a protrusion, and the bottom end portion has a second port forming a second fluid passage to the housing cavity. The needleless connector further includes a valve having a wall with an inner surface forming a valve cavity. The valve is coupled with the housing such that the protrusion is positioned in the valve cavity, and a proximal end of the protrusion is spaced apart from a proximal end of the valve cavity.

    Abstract: Syringe assemblies are described herein. A syringe assembly includes an assembly housing, a first syringe, a second syringe, and a connecting gear. The first syringe is disposed within the assembly housing. Each plunger is movable within the respective syringe cavity and defines a respective chamber in the respective syringe cavity, wherein the respective chamber is in fluid communication with the respective syringe port, the respective plunger comprising a respective gear rack extending longitudinally along the respective plunger. The connecting gear is rotatably coupled to the assembly housing. The connecting gear is configured to be in meshed engagement with at least one of the first gear rack and the second gear rack of the syringes.

    Abstract: Described is a priming device to prime a gas from a fluid delivery system by receiving the gas and a fluid used to push the gas into a chamber, the priming device including a housing having a chamber, an inlet port, and an opening to release gas received into the chamber. The device further includes a sleeve having an open first end for coupling with a male luer connector, a second end coupled to the housing, and an axis between the first and second ends. The sleeve defines at least one window. The device further includes an arm extending from a bottom of each window toward the first end, and a member extending radially from an inner surface of each arm. Each member has a ramp surface, an engagement surface extending transversely to the ramp surface, and an apex area that transitions between the ramp surface and the engagement surface.

    Abstract: A needleless connector may include a housing having a proximal end, a distal end, and an inner surface defining an internal cavity extending between the proximal and distal ends. A compressible valve may be disposed within the internal cavity. The compressible valve may include a head portion, a flange portion for securing the compressible valve in the housing, and a body portion extending between the head portion and the flange portion. The body portion may include a cylindrical outer surface having an external notch extending along a portion of a circumference of the cylindrical outer surface and recessed radially-inward from the cylindrical outer surface. The body portion may further include a planar face extending distally from the external notch and disposed between the external notch and the flange portion. The planar face may be recessed radially inward relative to at least a portion of the cylindrical outer surface.

    Abstract: A drip chamber is described that is used in medical infusion therapy, wherein the drip chamber utilizes valving to control flow of one or more fluids to a patient. The drip chamber includes a body forming a chamber, wherein fluid may enter via two or more flow ports, and an output port, where fluid may exit the chamber. A float controls fluid flow through one or more flow ports into the chamber such that the flow exiting the chamber may be limited to a single fluid or a combination of the fluids entering the chamber. The float is configured to be retained within the chamber, and the float moves within the chamber based on a level of fluid within the chamber. The control characteristics of the float are determinable by attributing specific buoyancy and dimensions to the float.

    Abstract: A fluid delivery Y-site is described that is configured to receive and control delivery of two or more fluid flows. Fluid flow is controlled within a chamber by a valve and float. Flow of a primary fluid into the chamber is reduced or halted by the movement of a valve. The valve may occlude a first flow port into the chamber in response fluid flowing from a second flow port into the chamber. A float is moveably disposed within the chamber and configured to engage the valve in response a fluid flow into the chamber from the second flow port. As fluid flow from the second flow port into the chamber is reduced or ceases, the valve and float allow the flow from the primary flow port to once again enter the chamber and exit from an outlet port.
