    Abstract: An engine system includes an engine including a plurality of engine cylinders, an intake manifold, and an exhaust manifold; and a compound turbocharger system having a first turbine driving a first compressor, and a second turbine driving a second compressor. The engine system further includes an intake line including the first compressor, the second compressor, and the at least one intake manifold; and an exhaust line including the exhaust manifold, the second turbine, and the first turbine. The engine system also includes an exhaust restriction valve located in the exhaust manifold of the engine downstream of a subset of the plurality of the engine cylinders; and an exhaust gas recirculation line having an upstream end located to receive exhaust from the subset of the plurality of engine cylinders, and a downstream end coupled to the intake line downstream the first compressor and upstream of the second compressor.

    Abstract: A system including a cooling fan, an actuator with an actuator temperature sensor, and a controller is disclosed. The controller may be configured to receive temperature data from the actuator temperature sensor. The temperature data may include information relating to an actuator temperature of the actuator. The controller may be configured to compare the actuator temperature with a temperature threshold associated with the actuator, and control the cooling fan to adjust the actuator temperature based on determining that the actuator temperature satisfies the temperature threshold.

    Abstract: An aftertreatment system for treating exhaust gases from an internal combustion engine includes, in series, a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), a diesel particular filter (DPF) downstream the DOC, and a primary selective catalyst reduction (SCR) catalyst downstream the DPF. A supplemental SCR catalyst is disposed upstream the DOC, DPF, and primary SCR catalyst to receive raw exhaust gases from the internal combustion engine. The supplemental SCR catalyst may conduct an SCR reaction on the raw exhaust gases until the supplemental SCR catalyst reaches a reaction temperature, at which time the supplemental SCR catalyst may conduct the SCR reaction.

    Abstract: A turbine includes a turbine housing having two gas passages of substantially the same flow area. A nozzle ring is disposed in the housing and around the turbine wheel. The nozzle ring includes first and second outer rings, and an inner ring disposed between the first and second outer rings. First and second pluralities of vanes are disposed between the rings. The second outer ring has a thicker cross section than the first outer ring such that a larger flow area is created between the first outer ring and the inner ring than a flow area created between the second outer ring and the inner ring.
