    摘要: Methods, devices and systems for wireless communication generate signals by determining whether legacy devices are within a proximal region of the wireless communication. When at least one legacy device is within the proximal region, a frame is formatted to include a preamble field, a signal field, and a data field. Further, the uncoded bits are encoded according to a coding format. The coding format is determined according to bits in the preamble and applicable sub-field lengths.

    摘要: A radio frequency transmitter includes a baseband transmit processing module, a mixing module, a power amplifier, a transmit power sense module, and a transmit power control module. The baseband transmit processing module is operably coupled to encode outbound data into outbound baseband signals in accordance with one of a plurality of encoding protocols. The mixing module is operably coupled to convert the outbound baseband signals into outbound radio frequency signals. The power amplifier is operably coupled to amplify the outbound RF signals prior to transmission to produce amplified outbound RF signals. The transmit power sense module is operably coupled to sense the amplified outbound RF signals to provide a transmit signal strength indication (TSSI). The transmit power control module is operably coupled to adjust gain of the baseband transmit processing module, the mixing module, and/or the power amplifier based on the TSSI and the particular encoding protocol used to produce the baseband signals.

    摘要: Polling using B-ACK for occasional back-channel traffic in VoWIFI applications. Within wireless communication systems having a relatively asymmetric channel (e.g., relative more downstream traffic than upstream), certain upstream communications (e.g., acknowledgments (ACKs) and/or block acknowledgments (B-ACKs)) include indication therein (e.g., piggybacked therein) that a given downstream located communication device desires/needs to make upstream communication. In some instances, specificity is also provided therein to indicate the type of information to be transmitted upstream. Such a communication protocol mitigates (or eliminates) contention between upstream and downstream traffic in an environment with significantly more downstream traffic (e.g., such as ongoing downstream traffic that may include streaming video). A coordinating device (e.g., access point (AP)) may employ such upstream provided indicia to coordinate upstream and downstream communications within the wireless communication system in a non-contentious manner that does not deleteriously affect ongoing downstream traffic.

    摘要: A system and method of throughput-based transmission rate adaptation for wireless transmissions is provided. An adapted transmission rate is determined based on transmission feedback from previous wireless frame transmissions. The adapted transmission rate is determined by comparing nominal throughputs derived from packet success rate (PSR) estimates at the current rate and other rates, such that the adapted transmission rate chosen is one that maximizes the nominal throughput. The PSR estimates can include those associated with the current rate, a fallback rate, and other rates. The PSR estimates are updated after each frame transmission. The PSR estimates can be saved and used for calculating future estimates, and they can also be time-stamped so as not to use them if they are older than a predetermined age.
