Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a method of reprogramming a field device in a process control network using the standard communications protocol for the network, and a reprogrammable field device in the process control network adapted for being reprogrammed using the standard communications protocol for the network. The method and device of the present invention use the standard communications protocol to transmit the downloaded code to the field device and store the downloaded code in the field device while the device is enabled to perform process control. Once the new code is downloaded and stored in the field device, the field device is set to a steady state condition and/or disabled from performing process control, reprogrammed to execute the downloaded code, and reenabled to perform process control.
Abstract:
An automatic data sanitizer module sanitizes formatted data from an external source system according to stored sanitization rules for release to an external destination system so that the destination system receives only that data for which it is authorized. The module generally includes an Input Comms module, a Message Processor, an Output Guard a Downgrader and an Output Comms module. The Input Comms module supports the communications protocol dictated by the external source system. The Processor sanitizes the message according to the rules written for the specific external system under consideration. The Guard verifies the modifications performed by the Processor. The Downgrader moves the resulting file to the Output Comms working directory and the Output Comms makes the resulting message available to the destination system. The system supports a variety of different formats and greatly facilitates the timely dissemination of information within a multi-level secure environment while protecting security interests.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to compositions of methods of making and compositions small compositions of particles of an active agent. In accordance with the method of production, the active agent is dissolved in an aqueous or aqueous-miscible solvent containing a dissolved phase-separation enhancing agent (PSEA) to form a solution in a single liquid phase. The solution is subjected to a liquid-solid phase separation to cause the active agent to form small spherical that are substantially amorphous or non-crystalline and are injectable through fine gauge needles at high concentrations. The invention has special application for higher molecular weight proteins.
Abstract:
A flexible heating cover assembly for an apparatus for heating samples of biological material with substantial temperature uniformity includes a housing having a plurality of engageable enclosure components; a resistive heater having a plurality of heater element areas; a heater backing plate providing stability to the resistive heater; a force distribution system that distributes a force over the heater backing plate; and a support plate providing stiffness for the force distribution system, wherein the arrangement of the resistive heater, the heater backing plate, the force distribution system and the support plate provide substantial temperature uniformity among a plurality of sample tubes for receiving samples of biological material. The flexible heating cover assembly improves the uniformity, efficiency, quality, reliability and controllability of the thermal response during thermal cycling of the biological material.
Abstract:
A clamp assembly releasably secures a plumbing pipe to a support. The assembly has a clamp base releasably connected to a clamping block by pawls that releasably engage a pair of ratchet arms extending from the base. Each of the base and clamping block has two inclined surfaces forming a generally V-shaped notch that opens toward the pipe. A cap is optionally placed over one or both of the V-shaped notches and is interposed between the notch and the pipe. At least one resilient leg or a flange may extend from the base opposite the ratchet arms, with the flange and/or the arms resiliently engaging opposite sides of the support to hold the clamp assembly in position.
Abstract:
A security system for use in a distributed network includes a service provider selectively accessible via a network by a plurality of end users each having an access device for accessing the network. A control mechanism is included which is disposed at a location of the service provider and accesses and modifies stored information on each access device of the end users to designate portions of the information to prevent access thereof by the end users.
Abstract:
A controlled release system using a feedback-responsive controller reversibly changes the pH of the aqueous microenvironment of a biologically active compound sequestered in an aqueous-fluid-penetrable, aqueous-insoluble biocompatible material; the pH change is effected in response to a change in the concentration of the target compound in the aqueous medium surrounding the insoluble material; as a result of the pH change, the aqueous solubility and therefore the release rate of the active compound is reversibly changed.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a pontoon boats that may couple and be driven by a PWC. The invention further relates to pontoon boats having a portion that moves into an open water recess at the rear of the pontoon boat. The invention further relates to an engagement assembly for securing a PWC to such a pontoon boat.
Abstract:
A portable hoist assembly for lifting, relocating and lowering loads includes a trailer that is both wheeled and configured to couple to a vehicle. A power module, a lift arm and an actuator are coupled to the trailer. The actuator is operationally coupled to the power module and the lift arm. A fastener is operationally coupled proximate to a second end of the lift arm. The fastener is configured to couple the lift arm to a load. The actuator is positioned to motivate the lift arm and the fastener upwardly and downwardly. The load that is coupled to the lift arm is elevated from a first resting position to a raised position, repositioned by movement of the trailer, and lowered from the raised position to a second resting position.
