摘要: Transaction card assemblies, systems and methods of making are provided. One such assembly includes a card carrier having a card integrally formed within. The card peripherally engages the card carrier and is adapted to be removed from the card carrier. An encodable strip is disposed on the card. The strip has first and second encodable tracks. The first encodable track is positioned to be read by a point-of-sale device when the card is engaged with the card carrier, and the second encodable track is positioned to be read by the point-of-sale device after the card is separated from the carrier. In this manner, the card can be read using the same point-of-sale device whether or not the card has been separated from the carrier.

摘要: The instant invention provides microspheres and related processes and pharmaceutical compositions useful in the controlled delivery of a wide variety of active ingredients. In one embodiment, the microspheres comprise an active ingredient dispersed within a polymeric composition comprising a first pH insensitive hydrophobic polymer and second pH sensitive hydrophobic polymer, wherein the microspheres, in an aqueous environment having a pH of around 5 or greater, release the active ingredient in a substantially zero-order profile. In another embodiment, the microspheres comprise an active ingredient dispersed within a polymeric composition comprising a first pH insensitive hydrophobic polymer and second water-swellable polymer, wherein the microspheres, in an aqueous environment, release the active ingredient in a substantially zero-order profile. In both of these embodiments, the microspheres are prepared by a non-aqueous emulsion solvent evaporation method.

摘要: Among other things, the present invention provides a variety of systems and methods for effectuating transactions using a point-of-sale device. The present invention is applicable to a broad range of transaction types including but not limited to, money or other value transfers, value transfers, check acceptance protocols, loyalty program utilization, fraud detection, and the like. The methods of the present invention provide the ability to fulfill the various transaction types through access to one or more transaction systems accessible to the point-of-sale device. Thus, in some instances, a common point-of-sale device can be used to effectuate different transaction types depending upon which transaction systems are accessible to the point-of-sale device.

摘要: An orthopedic plate is designed for opening osteotomies and includes a contoured double tabbed or butterfly shaped plate portion which can accommodate selective fixation including locking, variable locking and non-locking. The plate also includes a centrally located osteotomy support that maintains the opening between bone segments at a spaced relationship. The support can be integral to the plate, or can be modular, i.e. a separate and adjustable segment which can be changed to accommodate the desired geometry of the osteotomy site.

摘要: Various improved features for a point of sale (POS) device are disclosed. The POS device may have a housing, a document path, a check-voiding printer, and a door in the housing enabling access through the document path to the check-voiding printer. The POS device may have a connector and cavity in its interior, not visible from the exterior, the cavity configured to hold an accessory device connected to the connector. The POS device may comprise a read head for reading characters printed in magnetic ink on the face of a check and a biasing mechanism that has a contacting face that holds the check against the read head. The POS device may have an opening in a back wall through which a check is at least partially visible during reading. The POS device may include two microprocessor systems that control different parts of the POS device.
