    Abstract: Systems and methods for operating a switching converter are disclosed. The switching converter includes a high-side transistor coupled between a voltage input and a switching node and a low-side transistor coupled between the switching node and ground. The switching converter also includes a high-side driver coupled to drive a gate of the high-side transistor, a charge pump coupled to the high-side driver, and a bootstrap circuit, which includes a pass transistor coupled between the charge pump and the switching node, and a pull-down transistor coupled between the charge pump and ground.

    Abstract: Monolithic power stage (Pstage) packages and methods for using same are provided that may be implemented to provide lower thermal resistance/enhanced thermal performance, reduced noise, and/or smaller package footprint than conventional monolithic Pstage packages. The conductive pads of the disclosed Pstage packages may be provided with a larger surface area for contacting respective conductive layers of a mated PCB to provide a more effective and increased heat transfer away from a monolithic Pstage package. In one example, the increased heat transfer away from the monolithic Pstage package results in lower monolithic Pstage package operating temperature and increased power output. In another example, a monolithic Pstage package may be provided with an adaptive application-oriented interface and a multi-function pin that allows the same monolithic Pstage package to automatically detect and select between a relatively higher power information handling system application, and a relatively lower power information handling system VR application.

    Abstract: An information handling system (IHS) includes temperature-compensated power control by a voltage regulation (VR) module to: (i) receive a monitored current (Imon) value from a current sensor integrated into the VR module; (ii) receive a temperature value from the temperature sensor also integrated into the VR module; (iii) determine a temperature-compensated Imon value based at least in part on the Imon value, the temperature value, and an empirically-derived temperature coefficient defined at the Imon value and the temperature value; and (iv) control the voltage-regulated power at least in part based on the temperature-compensated Imon value. The empirically-derived temperature coefficient adjusts for nonlinear portions of temperature coupling relationship between a portion of an integrated circuit (IC) die that can include the current sensor and the temperature sensor and a temperature experienced by by active portion of VR module.

    Abstract: A voltage regulator configuration system includes a voltage regulator module that is coupled to a processing system and that is configured to provide a voltage to the processing system. A Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) that is also coupled to the processing system and the BIOS identifies a processing system mode in which the processing system is operating and identifies a voltage regulator module configuration for the voltage regulator module based on the processing system mode. The BIOS transmits a voltage regulator module configuration command that includes the voltage regulator module configuration to a remote access controller. The remote access controller configures the voltage regulator module with the voltage regulator module configuration.

    Abstract: A method and an information handling system (IHS) perform current calibration of a multi-phase voltage regulator (VR) by using a calibrated operating phase to calibrate an unknown operating phase. A calibration controller, using a pulse width modulation (PWM) controller, enables a first unknown operating phase within a first converter sub-circuit in the multiphase VR. The calibration controller enables a calibrated circuit component electronically coupled to the first unknown operating phase. The calibration controller determines a target voltage for the first unknown operating phase based on sense component specifications. The calibration controller determines, for the first unknown operating phase, a sense voltage that identifies the first unknown operating phase as a first evaluated operating phase. The calibration controller performs calibration of operating phases of the multi-phase VR, including the first evaluated operating phase, based on a respective difference between a sense voltage and a corresponding target voltage for each operating phase.
