An iris detection device includes a candidate detection unit, a candidate narrowing-down unit, and an iris specifying unit. The candidate detection unit detects circular regions as iris candidates from images captured by an infrared camera. The candidate narrowing-down unit narrows down the detected iris candidates into a predetermined number of iris candidates with use of data items of images of surroundings of each of the iris candidates. The iris specifying unit specifies one of the predetermined number of iris candidates obtained by the narrowing-down as an iris by matching between gradients of a contour of each of the predetermined number of iris candidates and iris templates.
Abstract:
A target setting apparatus sets a target correcting a sight line detection portion to detect a sight line of a subject person. A deviation between a position of the target and a position detected as a center of the sight line detected by the sight line detection portion when the subject person is estimated to be gazing at the target is regarded as a detection error and applied to a correction. The target setting apparatus includes: a sight line range estimation portion that estimates a sight line range; a candidate point extraction portion that extracts a candidate point for the target from the sight line range; a candidate point evaluation portion that evaluates appropriateness of the candidate point as the target by using a plurality of indices; and a target setting portion that determines whether or not to set the candidate point as the target.

An operation system includes: an operation device manually operated by a user; a control device that controls actions of a plurality of apparatuses according to a visual line direction of the user detected by a visual line detection sensor and an operation content of the operation device; and a contact detection device that detects that the user touches the operation device. The control device enables the visual line direction detected by the visual line detection sensor and reflects the visual line direction in a control of the control device when the contact detection device detects that the user touches the operation device.

A sight line input apparatus includes: a display portion that displays an input item at a position where the input item is viewable from a driver seat; a setup portion that sets a virtual input region at a position displaced from a display region of the display portion toward a driving visual field of the driver, the virtual input region being associated with the input item; a detection portion that detects a sight line position of a driver; and an input controller that performs an input process in accordance with the input item associated with the virtual input region, when the sight line position is in the virtual input region set by the setup portion. When a predetermined operation of the driver is detected, the setup portion changes the virtual input region into a mode that permits the driver to gaze at the virtual input region with ease.
Abstract:
In a display control device displaying a cursor on a display screen image based on detection results of a direction of a sight line and a manual operation of a user, a display control unit suspends a sight cursor display processing when a manual operation detection unit does not detect the manual operation of an operation device even when a sight detection unit detects the direction of the sight line with respect to the display screen image. Even when the user only moves the sight line to see a content displayed on the display screen image, the cursor is not displayed over the content. The sight cursor display processing is allowed to be executed by an action ordinary for the user such as usage of the operation device when moving the cursor. Accordingly, user's convenience can be improved.

A sight line input parameter correction apparatus includes: an image acquisition portion that acquires a face image of a user; a sight line detection portion that detects a line of sight position of the user; a gaze point map generation portion that specifies areas where a line of sight remains on a screen of a display device; a storage device that stores information on an image group displayed on the display device; and a correction portion that compares the areas obtained by the gaze point map generation portion with the information on the image group, estimates correlations between the areas and images of the image group, and corrects a parameter of the sight line detection portion. The correction portion does not correct the parameter when a total number of the areas specified by the gaze point map generation portion is less than a predetermined number.

A line of sight measurement device includes an imaging unit and a line of sight measurement unit. The imaging unit includes a variable exposure level and is configured to capture an image of a subject. The line of sight measurement unit measures a line of sight direction of the subject based on the image captured by the imaging unit. The imaging unit is configured to continuously alternate between capturing a first image showing an entire face of the subject at a first exposure level, and capturing a second image showing an area around the eyes of the subject at a second exposure level set higher than the first exposure level. The line of sight measurement unit is configured to correct a positional deviation between the first image and the second image.
