Abstract: Provided are multilayer films including ethylene-based polymers. The multilayer films can be fully compatible with polyethylene recycling streams. The multilayer films comprise a first outer layer, a second outer layer, and a core, the core including a first core layer that includes an ethylene-propylene copolymer. The multilayer films of the present invention can exhibit improved, maintained, or desirable properties, such as high tear resistance, in comparison to existing multilayer film structures that are not fully compatible with polyethylene recycling streams.

Abstract: A multi-layer structure comprising: a) at least one layer comprising a polyolefin component comprising i) 60 to 94 weight percent of a first component selected from the group consisting of ethylene homopolymer, ethylene copolymer, polypropylene homopolymer, polypropylene copolymer, and combinations thereof ii) 0-35 weight percent of a functional polymer component, and iii) 1-35 weight percent of a compatibilizer component comprising an anhydride and/or carboxylic acid functionalized ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer having a melt viscosity (177° C.) less than, or equal to, 200,000 cP and a density from 0.855 to 0.94 g/cc; b) at least one tie layer comprising maleic-anhydride grafted polymer with a melt index of less than 50 dg/min, wherein the tie layer does not contain the compatibilizer component; and c) at least one polar layer comprising a polar polymer, is disclosed.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a multilayered article comprising a first layer comprising a thermoplastic polymer; where the thermoplastic polymer comprises polyolefin, a compatibilizer and thermoplastic starch; where the first layer does not contain any filler; and a second layer comprising a polyolefin and a filler; where the second layer does not contain any thermoplastic starch. Disclosed herein too is a method of manufacturing a multilayered article comprising coextruding a first layer and a second layer; where the first layer comprises a polyolefin, a compatibilizer and thermoplastic starch and does not contain any filler; where the second layer comprises a polyolefin and a filler and does not contain any thermoplastic starch; and where the first layer contacts the second layer.

Abstract: The present invention provides multilayer films comprising thermoplastic starch and articles formed therefrom. In one embodiment, a multilayer film comprises (a) a first layer comprising from 50 to 100 percent by weight of a linear low density polyethylene having a density less than 0.930 g/cm3 and a melt index (I2) of 2 g/10 minutes or less, (b) a second layer comprising from 50 to 100 percent by weight of a linear low density polyethylene having a density less than 0.930 g/cm3 and a melt index (I2) of 2 g/10 minutes or less, and (c) a third layer positioned between the first and second layer, wherein the third layer comprises at least 10 percent by weight of a thermoplastic starch and up to 90 percent by weight of a linear low density polyethylene having a density less than 0.920 g/cm3 and a melt index (I2) of 2 g/10 minutes or less, wherein the thickness of the third layer comprises at least 30% percent of the thickness of the multilayer film.

Abstract: The present invention provides multilayer films and packages formed from such films. In one aspect, a multilayer film comprises an outer layer, the outer layer comprising a polyethylene having a density of 0.930 g/cm3 or greater and 0.01 to 1 weight percent of an additive, based on the total weight of the polyethylene composition, the additive comprising either a sorbitol acetal derivative or a bisamide as specified, wherein the outer layer has a 50% seal strength temperature at least 10° C. greater than an outer layer in a comparative film that differs only in the absence of the additive in the outer layer, when sealed to itself at a pressure of 5 bar with a dwell time of 0.5 seconds.
