Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a leather coating composition comprising or consisting of a hydrosilylation curable silicone elastomer composition designed to be used as a topcoat for a synthetic leather material, particularly a silicone-based synthetic leather composite material. A silicone coating as a topcoat for a synthetic leather material which is the cured product of the composition, methods of making the topcoat, synthetic leather material utilizing same and uses of the synthetic leather material products are also disclosed. The topcoat is designed to provide a highly crosslinked silicone matrix containing silicon-free organic micro-particles to minimize or at least decrease change in gloss after abrasion. The leather coating composition comprises a hydrosilylation curable silicone elastomer composition, comprising: (i) at least one organopolysiloxane polymer; (ii) a reinforcing silica filler; (iii) a silicone resin cross-linker having terminal (M) groups comprising silicone bonded hydrogen; (iv) a hydrosilylation catalyst; and (v) silicon-free organic microparticles.

The inclusion of a compound having at least two trialkoxysilyl groups, at least two dialkoxyalkylsilyl groups or a mixture of two or more trialkoxysilyl groups, and dialkoxyalkylsilyl groups per molecule selected from: (i) (R10)z (R11)3-z Si—(W)—Si (R11)3-z (R10)z; or (ii) 1,3,5-tris[3-((R10)z(R11)3-z Si)-D]-1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6(1H,3H,5H)-trione where each R11 is independently an alkoxy group having 1 to 6 carbons; each R10 is independently R11 or an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbons, z is 0 or 1; W is a linear or branched alkylene having 1 to 12 carbons; and D is an alkylene group having from 1 to 6 carbons; provides CIPGs which show both a good adhesion to aluminium and a good compression set.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to a process for the preparation of a one component translucent room temperature vulcanisable (RTV) silicone composition. The RTV composition comprises chain-extended alkoxy end-capped polydiorganosiloxane polymers, and tin-based catalysts. The process generates a one component translucent RTV silicone composition which is stable in storage, in the absence of moisture, and is curable in the presence of atmospheric moisture at ambient temperature. The one component translucent RTV silicone composition resulting from the process was unexpectedly found to have excellent adhesive properties towards polyvinyl chloride (PVC) substrates.

Abstract: A process for end-capping a dimethylsilanol terminated polydiorganosiloxane with one or more di, tri and/or tetra alkoxysilanes in the presence of a basic end-capping catalyst starting material is provided. An acidic stabilizing/neutralising agent is subsequently added. The acidic stabilizing/neutralising agent is selected from one or more fatty acids having from 8 to 26 carbons; an alkane sulphonic acid having from 1 to 10 carbons; acidic fumed silica and/or one or more acidic liquid polybutadienes or a mixture thereof. The resulting capped polymeric material may be utilized as a polymer in, e.g., an organopolysiloxane elastomer composition.
