摘要: A tray and conveyor for the trays are described, for moving liquid samples in an analyzer. The tray comprises a base having a magnetic member for responding to a magnetic field, a tray frame and member for freely rotatably mounting the frame on the base, the tray frame comprising a plurality of receptacles constructed to receive either sample tubes or aspirating tips useful to aspirate sample from a tube, the receptacles including a fixed bottom support. The conveyor comprises a support, conveying members under the support comprising a plurality of magnets and members for generating a moving magnetic field with the magnets, the conveying members being mounted in a continuous loop under the support and the support being permeable to a magnetic field, one of the above-noted trays being mounted above the support on the base.

摘要: A container of sample tubes is described with a mechanism for detecting the diameter of variously sized tubes that are placed therein. A method of detection is also described. Both the mechanism and the method rely on pairs of tube holders that are biased together with detectable ends that are spaced farther apart, the larger the tube that is held by the holders. A sensor is provided externally of the container to sense how far apart the ends are spaced.

摘要: An incubator and method of transfer in such incubator in an analyzer, wherein a simple transfer mechanism is provided for moving a cuvette from one incubator ring to another adjacent one. The mechanism comprises a shuttle disposed above said rotors, said shuttle having an aperture sufficiently large as to receive, but not retain by friction, one of said vessels, a mechanism for moving the shuttle and its aperture to traverse from one ring to the other, and a pusher member and mechanism for moving the pusher member to raise a cuvette from one ring into the shuttle. When the shuttle aperture aligns with the aperture of the other ring, a cuvette in the shuttle simply falls under the influence of gravity into the other ring.

摘要: There is disclosed a closure mechanism for two reagent bottles in a bottle holder of an analyzer, using a shutter that slideably and frictionally engages the top surface of grommets at the mouth of the bottles. The shutter slides to either an open or closed position of the bottles, either both in lock-step or with one bottle open, the other closed, and both closed together. The shutter is driven by a cam and cam followers, either rotationally or linearly.

摘要: An incubator comprises a rotor ring with two sets of apertures displaced along an arc of rotation, holding a cuvette in them. The apertures of one set are connected to an aperture of the other by a slot sized to allow passage of an elevator lead screw, but not a cuvette, between the apertures, the cuvette being raised on the top of the elevator during such passage. The elevator can also be used to move the cuvette into contact with a luminometer.

摘要: A disc film and lens supporting unit (10) is assembled on a structural base plate (11). An exposure aperture (96) extends through the unit (10), and a film suporting spindle (25) is provided rotatably to support a disc film (33) such that the image frames (95) therein may be successively indexed into alignment with the exposure aperture (96). A disc film support and translational transport mechanism (18) is provided to move the spindle (25) between a load/unload position and a processing position in response to movement of a transport plate assembly (13) that is operatively connected both to the structural base plate (11) and the disc film support and translational transport mechanism (18). A film engaging mechanism (85) is presented from a film flattening assembly (75) to flatten at least that portion of the disc film (33) in register with the exposure aperture (96). A first interlocking arrangement (45, 61 and 70) is provided to disengage the film engaging mechanism ( 85) before the disc film (33) can be moved between the load/unload position and the processing position. A second interlocking arrangement (125, 150 and 151) is provided to disengage the film engaging mechanism (85) before the disc film (33) can rotated by the rotational translation mechanism (125) to index the disc film (33) and thereby bring successive image frames (95) into register with the exposure aperture (96).
