摘要: The present invention provides a simplified method for identifying differences in nucleic acid abundances (e.g., expression levels) between two or more samples. The methods involve providing an array containing a large number (e.g. greater than 1,000) of arbitrarily selected different oligonucleotide probes where the sequence and location of each different probe is known. Nucleic acid samples (e.g. mRNA) from two or more samples are hybridized to the probe arrays and the pattern of hybridization is detected. Differences in the hybridization patterns between the samples indicates differences in expression of various genes between those samples. This invention also provides a method of end-labeling a nucleic acid. In one embodiment, the method involves providing a nucleic acid, providing a labeled oligonucleotide and then enzymatically ligating the oligonucleotide to the nucleic acid. Thus, for example, where the nucleic acid is an RNA, a labeled oligoribonucleotide can be ligated using an RNA ligase. In another embodiment, the end labeling can be accomplished by providing a nucleic acid, providing labeled nucleoside triphosphates, and attaching the nucleoside triphosphates to the nucleic acid using a terminal transferase.

摘要: A three-dimensional non-contacting angular motion sensor, based on magnetometry, has been developed for velocity feedback in the ball wheel mechanism, which serves as the drivetrain for a class of omnidirectional mobile platforms. More generally, this scheme tracks rigid-body rotation about a fixed point with an undefined axis of rotation. The approach involves tracking the time-varying magnetic field of a permanent disc magnet, embedded at the center of the sphere. This data is then used to determine the absolute orientation of the magnet axis. Finally, an approach based on the natural invariants of rigid-body motion is used to determine the instantaneous axis of rotation and the angular speed of the sphere about this axis.

摘要: A motion tracking sensor apparatus configured for real-time, three-dimensional angular motion tracking that can determine the absolute orientation, axis of rotation and angular speed of a body rotating about a point, which is fixed relative to the sensor, without contacting the rotating body. The sensor obtains measurements of the three-dimensional magnetic field of a dipole fixed on the body. In one embodiment, a permanent magnet is embedded in the center of the rotating body, and the time-varying magnetic field is measured as the magnet rotates, and then the instantaneous magnet orientation from the field data is determined. The apparatus is particularly suited for use with devices that are based on a sphere rotating in a cradle such as spherical motors or spherical variable transmissions.

摘要: A timed switch has a housing member, an output connecting leg connected to an appliance, and a circuit board including both a timing device and an electromagnet. The output connecting leg is electrically connected to the circuit board, and has a front end movable member disposed behind the front wall of the housing member. A control button is pivoted to the outer side of the front wall from a middle with an upper and a lower pushing protrusions passing through the front wall to abut an upper part and a lower part of the movable member respectively. A first, and a second input connecting legs are provided, which are connected to the power, and the second further to the circuit board. A power-on end of the button is pushed to make the upper part, and the lower part of the movable member to contact the first leg and the electromagnet respectively; thus, the appliance and the circuit board are energized, and the electromagnet attracts the lower part of the movable member thereto so as to make the upper part continue to contact the first leg to complete the circuit. At the same time, the timing device is actuated such that the appliance can be automatically turned off at a preselected time after it has been actuated.
