    摘要: A motor includes a stationary assembly and a rotatable assembly in magnetic coupling relation thereto. The stationary assembly includes a winding, the rotation of the rotatable assembly inducing a back EMF in the winding. A power supply for supplying a voltage across the winding drives a current through the winding. A back EMF sensor connected to the winding generates a back EMF signal representative of the back EMF induced in the winding during periods of time when the voltage is being supplied across the winding. An inverter connected between the power supply and the winding commutates the winding as a function of the back EMF signal, whereby the rotatable assembly rotates. A method of operating the motor and a control circuit for the motor employ the back emf induced in the winding during periods when the voltage is being applied to the winding by the power supply.

    摘要: A single phase permanent magnet motor includes a rotor, a stator, and a quadrature axis winding positioned out-of-phase from a main winding of the stator for generating an output signal representative of rotor angular position. An integrator can be coupled to the quadrature axis winding for phase retarding the output signal, and a comparator can be coupled to the integrator for detecting zero crossings of the phase retarded output signal to provide a commutation signal. The quadrature axis winding can be positioned about ninety electrical degrees out-of-phase from the main winding of the stator, and the integrator can be adapted to phase retard the output signal by a number of degrees which decreases as a speed of the motor increases. At low speeds the phase retard is preferably at about ninety degrees so that the phase retarded signal becomes in-phase with the main stator winding back EMF voltage. The motor may further include a rectifier coupled to the quadrature axis winding for rectifying the output signal, and a lowpass filter for filtering the rectified output signal to provide a signal proportional to velocity. Also the single phase motor is commutated for maximum torque production.

    摘要: A motor having a differential phase back EMF sensing circuit for sensing rotor position includes a stationary assembly with at least three windings. The rotation of the rotor induces a back EMF in the windings. A control circuit energizes each of the windings with a current according to a preselected sequence. A switch network is coupled to the windings and provides two back EMF signals as a function of the back EMF induced in two of the windings when the control circuit is energizing the third winding. A signal processor is coupled to the switch network and produces a difference signal representative of a difference between the two back EMF signals. An integrator integrates the difference signal to produce an integrated difference signal. The motor includes a reference signal generator which produces a reference signal and a comparator which produces a trigger signal when the integrated difference signal exceeds the reference signal. The motor also includes a one shot which produces a position signal as a function of the trigger signal and a position counter which produces a position count signal as a function of the position signal. The control circuit energizes each of the windings according to the preselected sequence as a function of the position count signal. Other circuits and methods control the motor. The trigger signal may be generated in response to a zero crossing detector and timer.

    摘要: A control system and method for an electronically commutated motor having a stationary assembly with a plurality of winding stages for carrying a motor current in response to application of a voltage having a magnitude subject to variations, the motor further having a rotatable assembly. The control system is adapted to receive control pulses having a duty cycle which is a function of a desired operating torque or speed for the motor. The control system and method are responsive to the motor current for generating a pluse width modulated (PWM) series of pulses having a pulse repetition rate having a duty cycle which is a function of the duty cycle of the control pulses. The PWM series of pulses are supplied to the commutating circuit as a pulsed signal whereby the operating torque or speed of the motor is a function of the duty cycle of the control pulses and is substantially independent of variations in the magnitude of the applied voltage. The control system may be part of a draft inducer apparatus or method for use with a combustion chamber having an exhaust outlet including a fan for moving air through the exhaust outlet and thereby to induce a draft in the combustion chamber. A pressure sensor connected to the motor control apparatus may be located within the exhaust outlet.

    摘要: The invention is a generator and cooling mechanism. The generator includes a rotor comprising a shaft with a skewed alignment of magnets on a ring, a stator of toothed laminations with coils wound around the teeth, and a housing with cooling chambers. The housing has annular subchambers arranged successively along the length of the generator in such a way that cooling fluid must flow to the opposite side of the generator to pass into the next chamber. Because the housing is highly heat conductive, this structure of annular subchambers increases the uniformity of the fluid temperature.

    摘要: An inside out motor includes a rotor including a concave member, a shaft defining a longitudinal axis mounted on the concave member and a magnet mounted on an interior surface of the concave member. A bearing receives the shaft for rotatably mounting the rotor. A stator assembly is mounted on said bearing and includes a bobbin mounted generally coaxially with the rotor shaft and having an interior diameter, an exterior diameter, a first axial end and a second axial end. A winding is wound on the bobbin and extends around the axis of the rotor shaft. The winding has a width in a direction parallel to the lengthwise extension of the rotor shaft. Plural separate ferromagnetic members are on each of the first and second axial ends of the bobbin. Each ferromagnetic member has a radially outer leg extending generally between the winding and the magnet. The outer legs of the ferromagnetic members on the first axial end of the bobbin extend generally from the first axial end of the bobbin toward the second axial end and the outer legs of the ferromagnetic members on the second axial end of the bobbin extend generally from the second axial end toward the first axial end. The ferromagnetic members on each of the first and second axial ends are disposed in angularly spaced, non-overlying positions around the longitudinal axis with respect to the other ferromagnetic members on the same axial end.
