摘要: A well-based flow system for cell culture is described which provides for flow of culture containing compounds for drug screening to be exposed to cells seeded on a membrane. The flow of medium may be planar or radial and means are provided for the removal of waste media through fluid outlets in fluid communication with the assay well plates through conduits. Methods of using the system for cell culture and drug toxicity screening are also provided including coculturing cells such as hepatocytes, stem cells, fibroblasts and smooth muscle cells and selectively exposing cells to test compounds.

摘要: A dual-chambered drug delivery device (201) includes a first chamber (205) in which a medicament is stored. A dose setting member (213) is rotated to set a medicament dose. The dose setting member (213) being rotatable to set the medicament dose. The dose setting member (213) is not axially moveable. A second chamber (221) is in fluid communication with the first chamber (205). The medicament dose is transferred to the second chamber (221) from the first chamber (205) prior to injecting the medicament dose. A needle (203) communicates with the second chamber (221) to inject the medicament dose into an injection site.

摘要: A flip-open multi-pack assembly is provided which can contain a plurality of new pen needles, such as through the provision of a rectangular or tube-shaped shaped, hinged shell housing, wherein new pen needles can be stored in a plurality of user accessible openings each having a sterility barrier formed, for example, by covers that cover the non-patient end of the openings in which the new pen needles are contained. Used pen needles can be returned and stored in openings accessible by rotatably opening the shell housing. One or more of the openings within first and second opposite ends of the housing shell can be provided with a slidable internal holder within the device and are configured to releasably secure the inner shield of the new pen needle, and to then be pulled forward when the new pen needle is removed and lock at a forward position, and thereby create an interior space, accessible from an opposite end when the hinged housing is opened, for a used pen needle to be inserted and stored.

摘要: An implantable neurostimulation electrode array may include a flexible, electrically non-conductive carrier, and a plurality of electrodes supportably interconnected to and spaced along a length of a carrier. In various embodiments, different ones of at least some of the plurality of electrodes may comprise corresponding contact surfaces having different areas. The different surface areas may be achieved by defining a different area per unit length of the carrier and/or by defining a different total length (e.g. as measured along a length of the carrier). In some embodiments, insulator portions having different corresponding lengths may be disposed between different adjacent ones of the electrodes. The insulated portions may be integrally defined with the carrier. Electrical connection lines may be embedded within the carrier. In a manufacturing method, a plurality of electrodes may be supportably interconnected to a first side of a sacrificial substrate and a carrier may be interconnected to the electrodes. In turn, at least a portion of the substrate may be removed from the electrodes to yield at least a partially completed electrode array. The substrate may be configured into a predetermined configuration wherein the carrier material may be formed within an internal volume thereof to define at least a portion of the configuration of the carrier of the electrode array.

摘要: A cutting device especially designed for cutting up salad greens includes two blades, a rib and handles. The two blades are inter-secured to rotate together about a common axis, but are spaced apart from each other along the common axis. The rib is pivotably secured to the two blades so as to rotate about the common axis, and is curved in a direction of rotation so as to have a concave surface. The handles are integrated with the two blades and the rib to control the two blades and the rib to rotate simultaneously between open and closed positions. The concave surface of the rib is the lead surface when moving from the open position to the closed position, and the cutting edges of the two blades cross edges of the concave surface when moving from the open position to the closed position, so as to perform a cutting action.
