Abstract:
A method for providing a wireless telephone service includes providing a wireless handset having an associated telephone number, and a dedicated programmable wireless switch coupled to a public switched telephone network and a billing server. The handset communicates with the switch to place and receive calls to and from selected telephone numbers on respective ones of a secured list, and optionally, a dependent list. Two billing accounts are associated with the handset, a secured account having a password and the telephone numbers of the secured list associated with it, and a dependent account having a password and the telephone numbers of the dependent list, if any, associated with it. Completed incoming calls to or from the handset in which the telephone number of the caller or the number being called corresponds to a number of the secured and dependent lists are debited to the secured and dependent accounts, respectively, and calls to and from other numbers are billed to the dependent account.
Abstract:
A system for monitoring objects and individuals. In this system, a monitoring station is remotely accessible through a user interface. The interface is adapted to provide a visually cognizable rendering of an area and a tool useful for selecting at least a portion of said area, and to communicate a first request signal to provide location coordinates of a first tracking device. The first tracking device comprises a first transceiver adapted to receive the first request signal, and to transmit a first reply signal that comprises a first identification code. In addition, a second tracking device having a second transceiver is adapted to receive the first reply signal, compare the first identification code to a stored identification code, and communicate to the monitoring station a second reply signal that comprises location coordinates of the first tracking device in part responsive to verification of the first identification code.
Abstract:
A system and method for expressing and storing information in a dynamic, graph-based form is disclosed. The method is configured for automatically organizing, summarizing, suggesting connections among, and consolidating that information. The method detects similarity between knowledge graphs and using such similarities to suggest connections, derive prototypic conceptual structures, and merge multiple knowledge graphs. The knowledge is represented as a directed graph comprising a set of labeled nodes and a set of labeled, weighted, directed edges. The conceptual objects correspond to a node or group of nodes, where relations correspond to an edge, a path, or a set of paths between one conceptual object and another. In the knowledge graph, any statement could be represented as a relation between conceptual objects.
Abstract:
An axial flux motor has a rotor mounted about an axis of rotation. Permanent magnets are mounted on a first axial face of the rotor and a predetermined encoder pattern is provided on the surface of a second axial face of the rotor. A stator is positioned on one side of the rotor adjacent to the first axial face of the rotor. A sensor is mounted on the other side of the rotor adjacent to the second axial face of the rotor. The sensor outputs signals corresponding to the encoder pattern on the surface of the second axial face of the rotor. A motor control system is coupled to receive the signals from the sensor and calculates a speed of rotation of the rotor based on the signals from the sensor. In addition, the motor control system may calculate rotor position information, relative or absolute, based on the encoder pattern.
Abstract:
A composite rim for a bicycle wheel generally includes a radially outer tire-engaging portion, a radially inner spoke-engaging portion and first and second sidewalls. The second sidewall is spaced apart from the first sidewall. The first and second sidewalls extend between the tire engaging and spoke-engaging portions. The rim includes at least one through-hole and a pattern of through-thickness stitching reinforcement at the through-hole. The tire-engaging and spoke-engaging portions and first and second sidewalls form a toroid.

A toolbar for WHOIS searching and interacting with a domain name registrar. The toolbar may include buttons, form fields and drop down menus, and performs WHOIS searches, WHOIS wildcard searches, provides domain registration services. Queries include WHOIS domain searches by domain, by IP address, and by Network Information Center (NIC) Handle searches. Domain registrations can be created, transferred and renewed.
Abstract:
A FRP rim for a bicycle, including a radially outer tire-engaging portion and a radially inner spoke-engaging portion. A first sidewall is in a spaced configuration with a second sidewall. The first and second sidewalls extend between the radially outer tire-engaging portion and the radially inner spoke-engaging portion. A brake track is disposed on each of the first and second sidewalls including a layer of microparticles.
