    摘要: In one embodiment, a multiband infrared (IR) detector array includes a metallic surface having a plurality of periodic resonant structures configured to resonantly transmit electromagnetic energy in distinct frequency bands. A plurality of pixels on the array each include at least first and second resonant structures corresponding to first and second wavelengths. For each pixel, the first and second resonant structures have an associated detector and are arranged such that essentially all of the electromagnetic energy at the first wavelength passes through the first resonant structure onto the first detector, and essentially all of the electromagnetic energy at the second wavelength passes through the second resonant structure onto the second detector. In one embodiment, the resonant structures are apertures or slots, and the IR detectors may be mercad telluride configured to absorb radiation in the 8-12 μm band. Detection of more than two wavelengths may be achieved by proper scaling. A method of forming an IR detector array is also disclosed.

    摘要: In one of various embodiments, a detector assembly is provided which includes a metallic layer having a repeating pattern of structures over a dielectric substrate. The metallic layer in conjunction with the dielectric substrate form a structure capable of focusing incident radiation to sub-wavelength high field regions. A plurality of detectors are disposed within the dielectric substrate in the high field regions created by the metallic layer. In some embodiments, an array of subwavelength sized detectors may be located in the high field regions.

    摘要: A sensor for determining the presence of hydrogen and for measuring the amount of hydrogen present in the vicinity of the sensor. The sensor comprises a metal hydride hydrogen-absorbent material AB5 which selectively absorbs hydrogen and expands upon such absorption. This expansion depends on the amount of hydrogen absorbed and the expansion is detected and measured either by measurement of a change in capacitance of the sensor or by the change in tunnel current flowing through the sensor. A method for determining the presence of hydrogen and for measuring the amount of hydrogen present using the metal hydride hydrogen-absorbent material AB5-based sensor.
