    摘要: This disclosure describes techniques for controlling a perceived quality of multimedia sequences to try to achieve a desired constant perceptual quality regardless of the content of the sequences. In particular, an encoding device may implement quality control techniques to associate a sequence segment with a content “class” based on the content of the segment, determine a perceptual quality metric of the sequence segment, and adjust at least one encoding parameter used to encode the segment is encoded such that for the perceptual quality of the sequence segment converges to the desired quality.

    摘要: A method and apparatus to improve error resiliency in processing a multimedia bitstream is described. A directory of header information is generated for a multimedia bitstream. The directory information comprises packet header information associated with the multimedia bitstream. The directory information may be transmitted to a receiver along with the multimedia bitstream. A receiver of the multimedia bitstream and the directory can utilize the header information to identify and locate packets within and subsequent to erroneous data in the received bitstream. By identifying and locating packets that may otherwise be discarded, the receiver may be able to improve error recovery and decoding of the multimedia data.

    摘要: In general, this disclosure describes techniques of compensating for differences between a clock associated with an input stream of media data and a clock associated with an output stream of media data. Due to drift between a clock that governs the rate at which a transcoder receives media data units (“MDUs”) and a clock that governs the rate at which the transcoder outputs MDUs, the transcoder may receive MDUs at a rate that is faster or slower than a rate at which the transcoder outputs the MDUs. The transcoder compensates for such differences by identifying sets of received MDUs that account for a time equal to an output period minus a correction magnitude, modifying the identified sets of MDUs such that the sets of MDUs account for a time equal to the output period, and outputting the modified sets of MDUs as part of the output stream.
