An electrical switching apparatus assembly is for a switchgear system. The switchgear system includes a number of circuit stabs and an enclosure having a number of compartments. The electrical switching apparatus assembly includes an electrical switching apparatus having a number of terminals and a mounting assembly, the terminals being structured to be mechanically coupled and electrically connected to the circuit stabs, the mounting assembly comprising a mounting member coupled to the terminals; and a maintaining assembly comprising a plate member and a maintaining member, the plate member being coupled to the mounting member, the maintaining member being coupled to the plate member and structured to engage the enclosure. Responsive to an arc fault event, the maintaining assembly is structured to move between FIRST and SECOND positions. When the maintaining assembly moves from the FIRST position to the SECOND position, the plate member moves away from the terminals.

A restraint assembly is for a switchgear system. The switchgear system includes an enclosure having a number of compartments and a number of electrical apparatus, such as for example, circuit breakers, movable into and out of the compartments. The restraint assembly includes at least one latch assembly comprising a mounting member, a latch pivotably coupled to the mounting member, and a number of biasing elements biasing the latch. The latch moves between a latched position corresponding to the latch locking an electrical apparatus within a corresponding compartment, and an unlatched position corresponding to the electrical apparatus being movable with respect to the compartment. The biasing elements bias the latch toward the latched position.

An improved conduit apparatus in accordance with the disclosed and claimed concept includes one or more conduits that each enclose therein an electrical conductor that carries a phase of a multi-phase electrical supply. The conduits are connected to the walls of the electrical enclosures with an attachment apparatus that extends between the conduits and the walls of the electrical enclosures. A clamp apparatus retains the electrical conductors in a state of tension within an interior region of the conduits in a position spaced from the walls of the conduits.

A contact assembly for an electrical component includes: a bus member; and a switching assembly structured to move between first and second positions. The switching assembly includes: a stationary contact extending from the bus member, a movable contact engaging the stationary contact when the switching assembly is in the first position and disengaging the stationary contact when the switching assembly moves toward the second position, and a switching device coupled to the bus member. When the switching assembly is in the first position, the switching device and the stationary contact are electrically connected in parallel with the bus member and the movable contact. When the switching assembly moves from the first position toward the second position, the switching device disconnects power after the movable contact disengages the stationary contact in order that electrical disconnection between the bus member and the movable contact occurs within the switching device.

The assembly further includes a plate member selectively coupled to the panel about a portion of the first aperture in at least one of a first position and a second position in a manner that blocks at least a portion of the first aperture and thereby defines a second aperture formed from a portion of the first aperture. When coupled in the first position, the second aperture is of a first area and when coupled in the second position, the second aperture is of a second area different than the first area.

An inter-pole drive bar in accordance with the disclosed and claimed concept is usable to extend among a plurality of poles of an improved switch apparatus and to cause the plurality of poles to be together moved between a CLOSED position and an OPEN position. The inter-pole drive bar is elongated and has a plurality of connection points that are connectable with the poles and further includes a number of features that avoid engagement or other interference between the inter-pole drive bar and the various structures of the switch apparatus. The inter-pole drive bar includes an elongated linkage element whose movement between the CLOSED and OPEN positions of the switch apparatus are primarily translation of the linkage element in a direction generally parallel with its longitudinal extent and translation of the linkage element in a direction generally perpendicular to its longitudinal extent.
