A curable resin composition is disclosed which comprises (A) a polymer having a (meth)acryloyl group in a side chain, (B) an unsaturated alkyd which is formed by the esterification of a polyvalent alcohol component and an .alpha.-.beta.unsaturated polybasic acid or an anhydride thereof with or without a polybasic acid, the polyvalent alcohol component comprising a phenol-modified epoxy resin which is obtained by the reaction of an epoxy group of an epoxy resin and a phenolic hydroxyl group of a phenol, or the reaction product of a polyvalent phenol compound and a monoepoxide, (C) a polymerizable monomer, and (D) a curing agent. It is suitable for underwater linings, putties, sealing materials, and the like.

A method for producing a high molecular weight aliphatic polyester, wherein:(A) 100 parts by weight of polyester (a) with a number average molecular weight of at least 10,000, and a weight average molecular weight of at least 30,000, and with end-groups that are substantially hydroxyl groups, and with a melting point of at least 60.degree. C., the polyester (a) having been obtained by reacting the following three ingredients: (i) a glycol ingredient; (ii) an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid ingredient; and (iii) a trifunctional or tetrafunctional ingredient reacts with(B) 0.1-3 parts by weight of a poly-isocyanate in a melted state of the polyester (a).The method provides a high molecular weight aliphatic polyester which has good properties and a melt viscosity required for molding and forming and has a wide molecular weight distribution. The high molecular weight aliphatic polyester is applicable to a variety of fields, such as films, moldings and formings, fibers, etc.

An unsaturated alkyd having a number-average molecular weight of at least 5000 obtained by esterification and then deglycolization reaction of (a) at least 10 mol % of an .alpha., .beta.-unsaturated polybasic acid or an anhydride thereof relative to 100 mol % of the total polybasic acid including any saturated or non-.alpha., .beta.-unsaturated polybasic acid (or anhydride thereof) and (b) at least 50 mol % of a polyhydroxy alcohol having a boiling point of 300.degree. C. or less at 760 mmHg relative to 100 mol % of the total polyhydroxy alcohol summed up with another polyhydroxy alcohol not defined above. The polyester resin can be widely used in a various applications by employing the excellent physical properties thereof.

Blow-molded articles consisting of an aliphatic polyester having a melt viscosity of 3.0.times.10.sup.3 -2.0.times.10.sup.5 poises at a temperature of 190.degree. C. at a shear rate of 100 sec.sup.-1 and a melting point of 70.degree.-190.degree. C. The present invention provides blow-molded articles excellent in heat stability and mechanical strength as well as having biodegradability which can be used for containers of detergents, cosmetics and the like, and industrial parts.

A method for freely affixing a decorative pattern having a very excellent deep appearance on any stock or shaped body is provided, said method comprising coating said stock or shaped body with an active energy beam curable resin; placing a pattern-printed film so as to contact the resin with the pattern at a stage where the resin still remains in a liquid or sticky gelled state prior to curing, said pattern being printed with an ink having a greater affinity to said resin than said film, irradiating a beam toward the pattern-printed film-resin coated body to cure the resin concomitantly transferring the pattern on the film to the cured resin surface, removing the film and thereafter coating the transferred pattern bearing cured resin surface with a transparent or translucent resin.

The present invention provides urea-resin compositions which, having a property to harden under heating, are themselves biodegradable and have sufficient physical properties to be applied for practical purposes.
