    摘要: This invention relates to an isolated nucleic acid fragment encoding an auxin transport protein. The invention also relates to the construction of a chimeric gene encoding all or a substantial portion of the auxin transport protein, in sense or antisense orientation, wherein expression of the chimeric gene results in production of altered levels of the auxin transport protein in a transformed host cell. The present invention also relates to methods using the auxin transport protein in modulating root development, and in discovering compounds with potential herbicidal activity.

    摘要: This invention relates generally to mechanisms of gene expression in plants and more specifically to regulation of expression of genes in plants in a “tissue-preferred” manner. A method for isolation of transcriptional regulatory elements that contribute to tissue-preferred gene expression is disclosed. Transcriptional regulatory elements isolated using the methods of this invention are demonstrated to direct tissue-preferred gene expression of genes within certain tissues of a plant. DNA molecules representing tissue-preferred transcriptional regulatory elements, vectors containing said DNA molecules and plants transformed with said vectors are demonstrated. Said transcriptional regulatory units are utilized to drive tissue-preferred expression of a gene that confers a selective advantage upon a plant.

    摘要: The structure and function of a regulatory gene, SCARECROW (SCR), is described. The SCR gene is expressed specifically in root progenitor tissues of embryos, and in roots and stems of seedlings and plants. SCR expression controls cell division of certain cell types in roots and affects the organization of root and stem tissues, and affects gravitropism of aerial structures. The invention relates to the SCR gene, SCR-like genes, SCR gene products, (including but not limited to transcriptional products such as mRNAs, antisense, and ribozyme molecules, and translational products such the SCR protein, polypeptides, peptides and fusion proteins related thereto), antibodies to SCR gene products, SCR promoters and regulatory regions and the use of the foregoing to improve agronomically valuable plants.
