    摘要: Functional imaging for localization in biological tissue entails measuring a response in the tissue (240) to electromagnetic radiation. A catheter (200) for real-time monitoring of cardiac ablation is employed to distinguish a hemorrhage zone (232) from the sandwiching necrotic and healthy tissue, or to distinguish exogenous photoacoustic contrast agent from bordering native tissue. A pair of wavelengths is selected for differential absorption (244) of the radiation in, correspondingly, the hemorrhage zone or where the contrast agent exists, and relatively similar absorption elsewhere. Near infrared laser or LED light may be used photoacoustically to serially acquire (S310, S320) the two datasets to be compared, each representative of a time waveform. Alternatively, acquisition is for a pair of wavelength bands of microwave-induced thermoacoustic data. In either case, the members of the dataset pair are combined (110, 122) by subtraction or division to effect the piece-wise cancellation/enhancement for display (218) of the resulting signal in real time.

    摘要: An optical illumination apparatus includes an illumination source, a pair of spaced integrator plates each having a plurality of lenslets, a conduit array, having a respective aperture corresponding to a plurality of the lenslets disposed there between, with non-reflective optically absorptive walls, and a relay optical structure for integrating light emitted from said second array of lenslets on a focal plane. The apparatus is employed by illuminating a first integrator plate having lenslets, subject to spatial intensity variations, segregating light from each respective lenslet with an elongated baffle, having a respective aperture for each of a plurality of respective lenslets, capturing light from each aperture with a second integrator plate having lenslets, and relaying the light to a focal plane, whereby light rays impinging on the walls of the elongated baffle are not transmitted through the aperture, thus substantially attenuating light rays having acute angles, to uniformly illuminate the focal plane.

    摘要: An imaging system for imaging a viscoelastic medium is disclosed. The imaging system comprises a variable refractive lens (4) and a transducer system (5) for generating acoustic radiation. The imaging system is operated to alternate between first and second operating modes. While the variable refractive lens is operated to alternate between a first configuration and a second configuration, the transducer is operated to alternate between generating acoustic radiation for displacing the viscoelastic medium and acoustic radiation for imaging the displacement of the viscoelastic medium. In embodiments the variable refractive lens is a fluid focus lens. Moreover, in embodiments, the imaging system is integrated with a catheter-based interaction modality, such as a tissue ablation modality.
