摘要: A centering element for a shank of a femur bone prosthesis is of three-sided pyramidal shape with an equilateral triangular-shaped base. The apex of the centering element is also rounded while a stud is provided at the base for interfitting in a recess in the prosthesis shank. The shape of the centering element enables insertion of the element together with a shank in a cavity in a bone already filled with bone cement.

摘要: An artificial acetabulum is made with a metal inner shell, a thin outer shell which defines a cavity with the inner shell and an elastic force-transmitting member between the two shells to damp forces imposed on the shells. In addition, a metal gauze layer is disposed about the outer shell for the ingrowth of osseous tissue. The inner and outer shells are connected at the edges so as to impermeable to air so that no particles from the cavity between the shells can reach the surrounding environment. A beading is also provided on the outer shell and/or gauze so as to snap into an appropriate undercut in the osseous tissue during primary implantation.

摘要: A hipjoint socket has an outer cup and an inner cup disposed within and secured to the outer cup. The inner cup has a hemispherical bearing surface which is concentric with an axis and terminates at the end face, which is perpendicular to the axis. An open groove formed in the end face is concentric with the axis. A closed ring has axially relatively longer and shorter portions and a cylindrical guiding surface having a diameter about equal to a diameter of the hemispherical guiding surface. The ring includes tongues engaging the groove and thereby securing the ring to the inner cup when the ring abuts the end face. The tongues are able to slide along the groove and position the cylindrical guiding surface concentric with the axis and substantially contiguous with an end of the hemispherical bearing surface at the end face. The ring can be rotated relative to the inner cup upon the implantation of the socket to position the relatively longer ring portion on the socket where it prevents luxation of a femur head cooperating with the socket.

摘要: The metallic inner shell (1) is guidable into the inner hollow volume of an outer shell (2) and fastenable to the outer shell (2) with the fastening element (8). A two-part hip joint socket (3) is thus produced. To achieve this, support regions of the inner shell (1) are approximately positioned into a groove (11) of the outer shell (2) and, from there, the inner shell (1) is moved into the outer shell (2) via a pivotal movement so that the support regions completely seat into the groove (11) and the fastening element (8) adopts the position shown. The intermediate volume between the inner shell (1) and the outer shell (2) thus narrows in the direction of taper (13) so that the fastening element (8), when tightened in the direction (13), wedges itself with its head (9) between the boundary surface (1i) of the inner shell (1) and the groove (11) of the outer shell (2). Play between the inner thread (7a) and the outer thread (8a) is preferably provided so that, when the fastening element (8) is tightened, the force transmission region (9b) of the head (9) seats against the boundary surface (1i) of the inner shell (1) and the force transmission region (9a) seats against the groove (11) of the outer shell (2). The inner shell (1) thus lies wedged in the outer shell (2) due to the fact that the fastening element (8) transmits a radially oriented force between the inner shell (1) and the outer shell (2).

摘要: A screw-nut for screwing implants together includes a thrust-shoulder which projects radially and presses axially against part of a housing. The screw-nut further includes an internal threaded portion adapted to fit a corresponding screw part, and a plurality of members, each mounted onto the side of the thrust-shoulder facing away from the part of the housing against which the thrust shoulder presses. These members are adapted to receive a tool for tightening the screw-nut. A plurality of leaf springs is included for engaging the housing part. The leaf springs, the ends of which form latching-in dogs, project, in the axial direction, from the screw-nut. The leaf springs are constructed such that, when the thrust-shoulder makes contact with the housing part, each latching-in dog snaps into a recess in the housing part in order to prevent loosening of the screw-nut from the housing part.

摘要: A knee joint prosthesis includes two guide faces for receiving the condyles of a distal femur. The prosthesis includes a tibial plateau of polyethylene which is embedded in a metal tibial shank with a plate. The underside of the plate is planar and bears against a resection area of the tibia shaped as a planar endface. On the inside of the plate, in the region of the guide faces, pockets are formed. The pockets follow the curvature of the guide faces in sagittal planes and exhibit at their lowest point a maximum wall thickness of 1.5 mm, while the minimum wall thickness of the tibial plateau resting in the pockets amounts to 6.5 mm.

The rotational movement of the slide member (3) is restricted by a limiting recess (15), which encloses a part of the eminentia (19) in the region of the rear cruciate ligament.

摘要: In some examples, a method for at least one of preparation or machining of a femoral head formed on a neck of a femur includes selecting an instrument including probing forceps and a guide element including a centering axis. The guide element is coupled to the probing forceps at first and second coupling points disposed along the centering axis such that the centering axis is disposed in a central plane of the probing forceps independent of an opening angle of the probing forceps. The probing forceps are closed with probing jaws symmetrically contacting the neck of the femur at opposite sides with respect to an axis of the neck of the femur. The guide element self-adjusts with closing of the probing forceps so that the centering axis is automatically aligned in the middle with respect to the two oppositely disposed sides of the neck of the femur.
