Abstract: The present embodiments are directed to locating electrical faults in an electrical circuit, in particular electrical faults in transmission wires of an electrical circuit. Examples of the present embodiments provide a method and apparatus for opening a switch in the electrical circuit to cause an open circuit or discontinuity at the fault; transmitting a signal to be reflected from the open circuit or discontinuity and receiving the signal reflected from the open circuit or discontinuity to determine the location of the fault. Examples are particularly suitable for high voltage systems, for example over 100V.

Abstract: An apparatus and method to detect and locate electrical faults in an insulated supply conductor sheathed in a conductive screen is disclosed. The apparatus is positioned along the supply conductor between a power supply and an electrical load. The conductive screen is coupled to an electrical ground via a first resistive element. A voltage on the conductive screen is sensed and compared to a threshold to determine whether a fault condition exists. The apparatus is configured to inject a voltage pulse to the conductive screen and detect a reflected pulse therefrom. The location of the fault condition is determined based on an elapsed time between the injection of the voltage pulse and the detection of the reflected pulse.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a control module circuit having a circuit communication input port, a circuit communication output port, a first controllable unit that has a first controller module, and a second controllable unit having a second controller module. The first controller module has a first communication input port connected with the circuit communication input port and a first communication output port. The second controller module has a second communication input port connected with the first communication output port and a second communication output port connected with the circuit communication output port. The first and second controllable units are adapted to be identified with a permanent identity by way of a transmittable data signal receivable at the communication input port and sequentially received by the first and second controllable units.

Abstract: A modular power system includes a plurality of electronic modules, the plurality of modules is arranged in a manner that each of the modules is detachable from the others, and adjacent modules are in fluid communication with each other through a passage, and at least one thermally activated element is disposed within each said passage. In normal operation, the thermally activated element is in an unexpanded state, and fluid communication between the plurality of modules is allowable through a space between the thermally activated element and the passage, and in a failure event when at least one of the modules fails, the thermally activated element is activated and expanded to block the passage between the failed module and the other modules. A method of mitigating failure propagation between a plurality of modules in the modular power system is also described.

Abstract: One example aspect of the present disclosure is directed to a method for monitoring performance of a plurality of processors, wherein the plurality of processors are arranged in a daisy-chained ring configuration. The method includes receiving, by a first processor from the plurality of processors, a first signal from a second processor of the plurality of processors. The method includes determining, by the first processor, a status of the second processor based at least in part on whether the first received signal was received at a first expected interval. The method includes transmitting, by the first processor, a second signal to a third processor of the plurality of processors, wherein the third processor determines a status of the first processor based at least in part on whether the second signal was received at the third processor at a second expected interval.
