Abstract: A system for monitoring and controlling vehicle operation includes a monitoring unit disposed at a vehicle, the vehicle including rear brakes and front brakes, the monitoring unit configured to monitor driver inputs, and automatically detect a driver's intention to perform a combined brake and propulsion maneuver based on the driver inputs meeting a first set of conditions. The system also includes a control unit configured to receive a brake request and an engine torque request from the driver during the maneuver, and based on detecting the first set of conditions, apply a front braking force via the front brakes according to the brake request, and automatically control a rear braking force applied by the rear brakes during the maneuver, so that the rear braking force is less than the front braking force.

Abstract: An automotive vehicle includes a steering system and a steering wheel configured to control the steering system. The vehicle additionally includes a dynamic vehicle balance control system configured to modify a yaw rate of the vehicle during a drive cycle to modify understeer behavior. The vehicle also includes a sensor configured to detect an operator force applied to the steering wheel. The vehicle further includes a controller. The controller is configured to, in response to a detected operator force applied to the steering wheel, command the dynamic vehicle balance control system to modify the yaw rate of the vehicle.

Abstract: A braking system for a vehicle has a first axle with a first road wheel arranged proximate a first vehicle end, and a second axle with a second road wheel arranged proximate a second vehicle end. The braking system includes a first brake assembly configured to apply a braking force to the first road wheel and a second brake assembly configured to apply a braking force to the second road wheel. The braking system additionally includes a controller for regulating the braking force of each of the first and second brake assemblies. Furthermore, the braking system includes a switch for communicating a request to the controller to apply the braking force via the first brake assembly when the vehicle is in motion, but not via the second brake assembly. The request from the switch is intended to stop rotation and generate a slide of the first road wheel.

Abstract: An active spoiler system for a vehicle includes a spoiler body having an airfoil shape in a cross-sectional view. The vehicle includes a vehicle body arranged along a longitudinal body axis and having a first vehicle body end configured to face oncoming ambient airflow and an opposing second vehicle body end. The spoiler body is configured to be moveably mounted between the first vehicle body end and the second vehicle body end to generate an aerodynamic downforce on the vehicle body when the vehicle is in motion. The spoiler system also includes a first mechanism configured to selectively translate the spoiler body along the longitudinal body axis to thereby adjust along the longitudinal body axis a location of the aerodynamic downforce generated by the spoiler body.

Abstract: A vehicle control system includes a function that relates (i) pairs of lateral and longitudinal acceleration values to (ii) skill values. A skill module: receives both (i) a lateral acceleration of the vehicle and (ii) a longitudinal acceleration of the vehicle; and, using the function, determines a skill value of a driver of the vehicle based on both (i) the lateral acceleration of the vehicle and (ii) the longitudinal acceleration of the vehicle.
